The Hunger
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

It was the kind of afternoon
When time was standing still
I knew she’d be lonely in her room
I was waiting by the mill
With the hunger

She would steal away for me
Once her Daddy was passed out
Burning with desire
A fire we never could put out
With the hunger

I couldn’t wait to get out of this town
Well I couldn’t care less
If they burned it all down

Never gave a thought
To what’s left behind
Now I wonder do I cross your mind
Do you ever feel
The hunger

Rain was pouring down
We were soaked but didn’t care
Pulled your body close
Consumed in your fire
With the hunger

Drums Rock 8ths
Bass 579 Electric Blues
Guitar 384 Rhythm Rock Southern
Guitar 630 Pop American Dirty
Piano 1262 Pop Shining Held
My guitar parts Grunge Boy sim amp in Logic Pro

Kenny,
Well that woke me up!
I love the raspy edge to your voice and that fantastic Neil with Crazy Horse band sound. Could have gone on for much longer...
great title too.

Love this!
Robert beat me to it, this certainly has a Crazy Horse vibe happening, the leads especially remind me of Neil Young.
Good stuff, enjoyed this one!!

What a tune, Kenny! Right from the first chord, it really grabs you and forces you to pay attention. It really hits hard!

Great job, and thanks for sharing smile

Hi Kenny,

Great tune and we very much like this somewhat raspy voice of yours.
Well done!

The raspiness of your voice really works here. I also really love the subject of your lyrics. <3

Dave,

thanks for dropping in for the listen and very kind words

the outro/lead was a one take that I was sure would have to be redone,

the guitar slipped in my lap twice (that almost never happens)

I listened back and decided that I liked it even with the clams!

Kenny

Great stuff - certainly get the Neil Young Crazy Horse comments - when that comes in is very Neil like.
Liked it a lot.

Kenny,

Excellent Rock write! Like a mix of a little Stones and a little Bruce and a whole heapin' helping of Kenny Leverett.

What a vocal! - talk about fire!

Super guitar. It had that added dimension - a solo that is a joy to listen to after the joy of listening to the song...

Excellent.

Cool tune Kenny. I agree with Robert the this has a Crazy Horse vibe to it. Well done. Raw emotion cuts to the bone Well done...

Alice Cooper meets Bob Dillon.
A great rock ballad.
Great lyrics well performed and produced.
This ticks all the boxes.
Nicely done.

Janice quote, "good steamy hot rock and roll....woohoo!"

We dig all the influences folks mention but as floyd said "it's a whole heaping helping of Kenny Leverett."

No need to break it all down. Everything is in the pocket and hittin' the note.

Rock on Kenny!

Kenny, You captured that desperate "gotta get out of this town" feel on this one. Once again great vocals and production. That little seafood buffet on the outro actually worked to enhance the raw gritty vibe. Good job all around. Solid, Tom
