Blue Kentucky Rain
© 2017 Kenny Leverett

I know that talk is cheap
That’s OK, I ain’t got a lot to say
I’m just wondering how you’re doing these days

Tell me how do you sleep
On all those fancy rich man satin sheets
Before I’d let you break my heart again
I’d rather be walking in the cold night wind
My heart don’t need your kind of pain
I’d rather be out in the blue Kentucky rain

They say you reap just what you sow
I’d be more than curious to know
Of you finding out all that glitters ain’t gold

Tell me how do you sleep
On all those fancy rich man satin sheets
Before I’d let you break my heart again
I’d rather be walking in the cold night wind
My heart don’t need your kind of pain
I’d rather be out in the blue Kentucky rain

My heart don’t need your kind of pain
I’d rather be out in the blue Kentucky rain

Drums BoomChickaSwing Rockabilly
Bass 2351 Acoustic Rockabilly
Piano 2498
Guitar 2496 Rhythm Rockabilly Brent
Guitar Solo 1280 Country Boogie Brent Swing
knocked over a few chairs at the end there

Yeah, I love rockabilly! Great groove on this and love your vocal!

My favorite line: "My heart don’t need your kind of pain
I’d rather be out in the blue Kentucky rain"

Bringing that piano in panned right during that second chorus was unexpected but really worked well I thought!

Good stuff Kenny, very much enjoyed this one!

Kenny,

You impress me more with each offering...

Excellent write. Tight. Your melodies are SO "singable" - a rare quality in writers... On top of (or under) good lyrics, it's "gold".

Good BAND. Excellent vocal. Good mix.

Great listen.

Wonderful rockabilly - had a live band feel and an excellent vocal performance.
Great work.

Great job Kenny, I particularly liked the hook line. Hooks are sometimes hard to find these days. I also really liked the Rockabilly styling. Your vocal rocked!

Really nice song. Well put together. Lyrically very nice. Love the swingin groove and the guitar leads are nice. Your vocals sound great too.

Wow, the groove on this is infectious! It sounds professionally mixed, and the songwriting is well done here. It's just the right balance of catchy and raw.

Thanks for sharing smile

Hi Kenny. I think Torrey summed this one up pretty good. I'm working on a rock-a-billy tune myself. Love the genre. The added reverb on your vocal really sells this as the real deal. You captured the feel perfectly. Great job!

Hi Kenny. Enjoyed this rocker very much. As mentioned by Floyd, very singable. Can imagine the band playing this one in that smokey pub. Nice guitar solo too!

Hello, Kenny

As Peter said, wonderful rockabilly - had a live band feel and an excellent vocal performance.
Your vocal is really pleasant.
And your guitar play is very cool.
The combination of the ordinary chord progression and the blues progression is wonderful.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

I enjoyed that! Nice mix, too - it sounded great, even on the tinny speakers of my cheap Chromebook.

You know it's a good chorus when it gets so stuck in your head you keep catching yourself singing it when you're by yourself. Great job as always, and can't wait to listen to the next one.

That is one great chorus. Catchy and cool.

Love shoutouts in the solo and, man, what a rockin' band.

Super strong vocal and melody! And a fine arrangement and production to ice it all.

Super catchy. Like others said it got caught in my head. Whatever you did to process the vocal works really well. One of your best in all regards. Absolutely loved it! Tom

Kenny,

I listened to this sometime back but didn't have time to leave a comment.

As those above me have already said, this is an excellent creation and presentation. The groove grabs hold and really pulls the listener into the music. Everything about this appealed to me.

All the best,
Noel
