Dear Forum Friends
Greetings. As usual, sorry it's has been so long since I've been online.
A few weeks ago my wife and I drove down to South Carolina to see the solar total eclipse. It was remarkable and inspiring. Here are our musical impressions from the Trans-American Solar Eclipse called, "Eclipsing Reality"
Enjoy. I'll put the BB technical stuff up later

Loved this. Excellent vocal.. I was able to experience a total eclipse in 1979 in my home province of Manitoba. It was an unforgettable experience. Loved your harmonines...
Nice one, love the arrangement
Very nice composition - some really interesting elements and good harmonies.
Peter
What a tune! The arrangement on this is superb, and the vocal performance is seriously on point as well. It's perfectly catchy too, it easily got stuck in my head. A wonderful songwriting job on this.
Great job, SpaceDog and thanks so much for sharing
Good work Space Dog.
The eclipse would certainly be something to get inspired about.
Nicely done and thanks for sharing Rob.
SpaceDog, I appreciate the lyric content in this! It's amazing that it's the events that are outside of mankind's control that bring us together! Good work! Thanks, Torrey
Dear Forum Friends,

Scott,
I remember the 1979 solar eclipse as well. It was only a partial for me in New York but it was still pretty cool.
Thanks for listening. Glad you liked it.
SD
Graham,
Thanks. Considering your forum activity at almost 5000 posts, I'm glad you liked it.
SD
Peter, Thanks. To be honest, those are TC Helicon harmonies. I wish I could sing that high.
SD
Deryk,
I love hearing from the PGM staff. Thanks for your kind comments. The song has lots of RealTracks. I'll post them as soon as I get some time.
Please tell Peter G and the other folks, thanks for such a wonderful musical power tool!
SD
Rob, Thanks. It's been an off year for my songwriting but I couldn't pass the opportunity to write about this event.
SD
Very nice, SD! I think this is my favorite of yours. Well written, and I like the structure of the song. Nicely done!
Steve
Torrey, You are so right. I was really struck by the unifying effect this event had despite all the social unrest we've been experiencing. We can only hope the message sticks with at some people.
SD
Hello SD,
Great song! Love the way you bring the human element and nature's element together. Real nice vocal and the harmonies are stellar. That timpani drum was great for the accents. Loved it!

Thanks. I'm glad you liked it

Thanks. That was the most interesting thing about it for me . I've seen all kinds of space and astronomical events , but it's been a long time since one captured people's attention like this .
Take care.

I think Torrey said it right!! This is a really nice expression of a magical grand event. My family had talked about going to Oregon to experience the total eclipse but sadly did not make it. This is very nicely done! Take care. Greg
Greg
Sorry you missed it. I heard it looked great from Oregon. Glad you like the song.

What a lovely song. It's perfect for the Eclipse, and a really neat way to capture the experience.
We didn't have a total eclipse here on the island, but we still got some really cool shadows, and the outside world had such eerie lighting!
Great job!

Thanks for listening and commenting. The song will make a nice memory for me and my wife.
BC is a beautiful place. Glad you were able to see part of the event.

Great!
We enjoyed everything about it. Nice write, performance and arrangement. Cool drums...never listened to that RD
We had 97% of the eclipse at our home. Should have driven 80 miles for the entire experience but it was exciting watching our woods somewaht darken.
Thanks for sharing!

Very cool song man! Really loved this. Great job!!
Super arrangement and mixing. Excellent.
Great song and loved the boom boom added drums. My new fav of yours SD!
Hello SD,
Really appreciated the emotion while listening to this!
Clever set of lyrics, SD.
Very well presented.
Harmonies gave fullness and richness.
Excellent. Everything about this is spot on.
I think this is your best to date. Your vocals and lyrics are super!
Great backing tracks also!

Thanks. Those Timpanis weren't a RealDrum track. They were actually in the orchestral midi drumkit on my Cassio keyboard. When a play the song on piano a use a low D, G in that spot but the Timpani synth only went down to G. I understand real Timpanis go down to low C. They might be too heavy to get down the stairs into my basement studio.
Glad you liked it.

David
Thanks. I'm not a perfectionist, obviously, but I do worry about the mixing every time. It's such an alien art-form for me. Thanks for listening.

Josie
I'm so glad you got to hear this one. I always love to hear from you. Of all the hundreds of great songs we have here on the Forum your song "It is what it is" is my #1 earworm.
SD
Tyler,
27 posts, register in March 2017, welcome to the forum!
I'm so glad you liked it. You raised an important point. Songs need to be sung with emotion if they are to evoke an emotional response. Nice to know it hit the mark
Also, Thank you PGM for putting this song on the "Hot Topics" list.

Thanks for your kind comments. I used the TC Helicon harmonies in RealBand. I was going to sing the harmonies myself but thought better of it.

Thanks. That's high praise from someone who really knows. I guess I'm learning.
