CAPTIVATING

Always wanted to do an orchestral kind of thing.
First I generated three different melodies with the BIAB melodist and imported those in UJAM studio.
Created a basic arrangement there and then converted 2 of the melodies into solo instruments (Diva and Dreamy Saxophone).
Next, I Imported everything into RealBand and did some editing, well quite a lot of editing actually.
Finally I used the third melody as an inspiration for the vocals.

Anne-Marie did the video editing.

Hope you like it, comments are encouraged!

Rob

PS, if you see an ad appearing at the end of the video, that's my own ;-)

Lyrics

I count the days, I sit at night
I sense you near, somehow that feeling grows
another place, another town
the life I had, held me in chains

I want to go just where you'll lead me
I want to feel those things you do
I'm giving into the things I never knew
so please don't ever bring me down

cause I watched you close, time and again
all the things you won, all the things you lost
for the things you'll be, about the things you were
you'll dream at night, putting up a fight

I want to go there where you'll lead me
I want to feel the things you do
I will look at the things you're showing me
I want to feel where I belong

I really enjoyed this! It totally made me want to get up and go on a journey and explore the nearby places I have yet to see. Maybe I'll go for a hike once I'm no longer sick! laugh Absolutely wonderful tune, and the video-editing is great as always. Good job you guys.

Thanks Ember!

No serious health issues I hope....
Well, you're a lot closer to NY then we are. This song is my tribute to it.
If we ever get the money..... we'll surely go there.

What a nice texture of sounds you weaved into a very cool backing for your voices. I've always loved the symphony so this was very much enjoyed.

This is really captivating, especially the intro really leads to the strong emotional experience. The powerful orchestration supports the will to live and feel described in the lyrics. Excellent symphonic arrangement.

Rob & Anne-Marie,
A beautiful blend of orchestral and electronic sounds with a strong melody and very good vocals.
You`ve done a fine job translating the BiaB melodies to fit so I have a feeling we`ll be hearing more using these techniques.
Maybe its the Diva sound, but I`m reminded ( happily!) of OMD.

Rob/Anne-Marie, great work again! The audio track is exceptional with a top level vocal performance! The video work is, as usual, the best we see on the forum in my opinion! The sharp cuts from scene to scene in sinc with the audio is great! Take care Torrey

Rob & Anne-Marie,

Captivating, indeed! A wonderful texture of sounds. Big, expansive. Really well put together. The staccato feel to the orchestration makes this move well throughout.

The video is exceptional - as always.

Rob - I really like the space that your vocal sits in on this - seems different - a little more out-front than usual and some really nice reverb on it...

Excellent work.

Hi Anne-Marie & Rob,

Wow - what a production! Everything about this is top shelf. I can't imagine how it could be better. To say this fabulous would be huge understatement. The timpanis and your excellent vocal sold it for me. This is one of the best productions I've heard on these pages in a long time. Congrats!

The first words that came to mind were 'Genius'

But after listening to the material, I changed my mind. Now, 'Exceptional Genius'.

This is some of the most remarkable material ever delivered on this forum.

Exceptional Genius - yes. Very remarkable, very, very, remarkable.

Yes, this was fun doing. Never tried anything like this before.
It was also a completely different way of using BIAB.

Yes, I love the diva sound too, Ujam did a very nice job on this one.
Speaking of 80s pop, I hope to come up with a sound like Talk Talk (it's my life, Renée, such a shame) someday. They are my absolute 80s favorite!
