Romani Rendezvous
The forum has been a little slow lately, so thought I'd post another one. I wrote this day before yesterday - another quick write - about 5 or 6 hours.
When I was in college (University of Maryland), I wrote a paper on the origin and evolution of the Gypsy culture. They were known under 3 different names in the beginning years, but Romani is the one that was most widely used and accepted and is the traditional reference for the "Gypsies" in modern culture. Thus, the title of the song.
I've been a huge fan of Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grapelli for many years. This was written with them in mind, trying to create that unique Gypsy Jazz sound that was so popular in Europe in the 1930s and 1940s.
I mixed the rhythm guitars a little more forward in the mix than usual. What do ya think?
