Ain’t Giving Up
© 2017 Kenny Leverett
08032017

Sitting in my car
And just watching the rain
Thinking to myself
What a crying shame

Cause I drove by your house tonight
There was no light
If you’re not waiting round for me
That’s alright

Cause I ain’t giving up
On you and me
I’m ready to be living up
Girl to what you need

And it’s true I haven’t caught you yet
But you’re willing to be caught I’d bet
So I ain’t giving up

A change of heart
That I can’t explain
But what we had was too good
To never have again

And I ain’t giving up
On you and me
I’m ready to be living up
Girl to what you need

And it’s true I haven’t caught you yet
But you’re willing to be caught I’d bet
So I ain’t giving up

And I ain’t giving up
On you and me
I’m ready to be living up
Girl to what you need

Wow, what a tune! I love the groove of this one, and how vivid and cinematic the lyrics are. It sounds really sincere, and also the tune is nicely catchy too smile

Great work, and thanks for sharing!

Kenny,

This song is great!!! I really like it. Just in the "great minds think alike category" here is something from last year. Mine is really stupid, however.

Kenny,

Great energy comes through your vocal -you have a "better pay attention to this" way of delivering lines I really like.
The opening lyrics pulled me in and the groove doesn`t let up.
Very good!

Hi Kenny,

yep, that signature "Kenny Sound". And that's a pretty danged good sound at this address. I was wondering which way you might go with this as there are so many directions that title could take, I like what you did with it.

I think Robert said what I was thinking better than I could say it - thanks, Robert! Your vocals are always strong, gritty and spot on. Works for me. Good stuff, my friend. Wishing you the best,

ALan

You had me hooked on this song right after the first note!

Great vocals! The lyrics and mix are spot on.

Two thumbs up.

Kenny, Robert said it well when he said "great energy" comes from your vocal! This song also has a tremendous amount of energy bursting forth! It seems like kind of a cross between a Stones/John Mellencamp vibe to me! Good work! Thanks, Torrey

This really rocks.
All cool and happening in the right place & right groove.
The bvox are a little off putting but that's probably just me.
Did you record the main vocals hot to get that crunchy effect or did you add an effect?

Thanks Alan,

never even gave much thought to the title,

the music gave me that hook line, but I see what you're saying

this could go in a lot of different directions, in this case just a love song,

I always appreciate your support and very kind words.

Kenny,

Wow! You've pulled out all stops with this work.

Your singing is first class and sits excellently on top of a great arrangement, a toe-tapping groove, and a really powerful mix. Whatever you've done in the finishing department is exceptional. Each and every instrument sparkles with clarity. You carried me along on a thoroughly enjoyable journey from start to end.

This is definitely a fine addition to your songbook!

All the best,
Noel

GREAT Rock'n'Roll, Kenny!!

Awesome Rock write - which I think is one of the hardest things to do - a real talent. I'd say there is some Petty influence here, for sure... super catchy.

Killer vocal.

Loved it. Keep it up.

Great stuff Kenny!! Love the passion and the gritty vocal. I also like the concept of not letting go of something you believe in. Don Henley has a song called Waiting in the Weeds with a similar sentiment. You should check it out if you don't know it. Fantastic rocker Kenny!! Take care. Greg

thanks floyd,

I think Petty is a touchstone in everything I write,

It's true, I ask myself "what would Tom come up with in this part?"

This song absolutely suites the current weather outside. The song has this sense of longing and sadness to it, despite the almost up-beat tone to it. I really enjoy the lyrics. Lyrics are always my favourite part of any song, and I think my favourite out of this particular song are:

"Cause I drove by your house tonight
There was no light
You’re not waiting round for me
That’s alright"

Just the acceptance of it resonates quite profoundly with me.

Great job, and can't wait for the next one.

Janice is singing harmony with you as I type but she stopped long enough to say "Mick Jagger!" smile

Man, this thing just bites. It has a big, big sound on our monitors that simply screams "great rock!!"

It's vocally and lyrically engaging, it makes you want to hear it again and you did a great job with the production.

You NEVER disappoint Kenny
