This is the first song I have covered from another BIAB artist.

This is Alan David's First to Say Goodbye. I absolutely love this song--when I heard it, I didn't hear country, I heard Ray Charles. Have fun! smile

The First To Say Goodbye

(v1)

We both know this love of ours, ended long ago
But we just keep hanging on, why we just don’t know
We can’t seem to find the will or the way, to simply let it die
And neither of us wants to be, the first to say goodbye

CHORUS

There’s no way to resurrect a love that’s gone this bad
We’ll never find the love and joy or laughter we once had
So I guess we’ll spend another day, of living this old lie
Cause neither of us wants to be, the first to say goodbye.

V2

There’s no reason we should be, together anymore
One of us should pack our bags, and take them to the door
Instead we kid ourselves once more, and give it one more try
When either one of us should be, the first to say goodbye.

REPEAT CHORUS

What an awesome song David. This is a very cool lyric and backtrack. Super vocal and interpretation of the song. Very cool idea covering another forum members tune. The ultimate complement

Great work David. Great job on the backing track. Thanks for posting.

David

Very nice cover of Alan's song (which I just listened to was on holiday when it came out).
Liked them both and great to see a forum members song covered in a different style.
Nicely done.

Peter
First of all, cool concept doing a cover of a song written by another forum member!

I must have missed this post by Alan, man, what a great write! Very emotive lyrics.

And the way you interpret them with your vocal style is brilliant.

Loved it!
We’ve had fun interpreting one of Gruve’s songs and several of floyd’s. Another positive aspect of this forum.

And this is an example of how two seemingly disparate members in style can create product that is new but has characteristics of each contributor.

It’s a nice write and one can always count on you to deliver a heartfelt and soulful vocal. And wrap it up in a fine arrangement and production.

Janice has said several times that you remind her of Hayes Carll (a good thing) and she immediately mentioned it when listening to this. He’s a great Americana artist with a wry sense of humor like you! Our fav album by him is KMAG YOYO.

Enjoyed it!

Cool!

It is cool to hear a David Snyder interpretation of an Alan David song.

A vary expressive vocal. Nice instrumentation. You did not list a piano RT - did you play that?

Nice.

Thanks Scott! It was fun to work with such a great song by Alan.

Thank you Robert!

Thanks so much Peter! I am glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks Buddy! I really appreciate that Dave. I have been enjoying all of your songs so much this year!!!

Great idea, David, to do a version of Alan's lovely song.
Enjoyed your version very much. Has a lovely wistful quality.
Cheers.
Very cool!! I also really loved this song when I heard it. Alan has been doing some great stuff lately. I recently collaborated with him on an instrumental that really grabbed me. Nice cover David!! Take care. Greg

Hey David,

I'm finally here to listen and comment. I just tried to leave you a comment on SC ... but the page froze up. Will get back over there in a minute.

It's always the ultimate complement when a fellow musician covers your song. I am honored and most pleased with your rendition! This is really cool! I'm gonna have to buy me a new St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap now ... the one I've had for years no longer fits!

Your vocals always are so heartfelt and you excelled on this recording. Love the full arrangement. Again, many thanks and thank you for the honor. Standing "O"!

Wishing you and yours the very best. God Bless.

Alan

PS: Di says "Hi David! Thanks for the prayers and well-wishes." (My sentiments, too).

To everyone who dropped by and listened to David's cover of this song,

a sincere thank you to all! He did a great job in his interpretation ... a new perspective that i really enjoyed. The great comments you've left for him are much appreciated by me, also. And he deserved them for his performance.

Wishing everyone the very best and a very merry Christmas. Also, Di said to say "Thanks!" for all the wonderful comments wishing her a speedy recovery ... and for the prayers. Gof Bless to all.

Hello, David

A very nice cover of Alan's tune!
As Scott said, very cool idea covering another forum members tune.
Each personality is well expressed and it is very interesting.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

David, Just wanted to say that Alan is such a good writer-so many great ones- it would be hard to settle on one to cover. You did a great job on this one and I'm sure Alan was honored to see you do it! You are the most entertaining forum member we have IMO! Thanks, Torrey

Again, my sincere and deep appreciation for David's interest in my song and the wonderful treatment he gave it. To all who have commented since my last "Thank You" note, please accept this new Thank you!

Working with others on the forums has been quite a nice experience. I have collabs in process, and almost done, with two other forums members. And I can truly say experience has been terrific and musically rewarding ... not to mention the personal relationships that form from these exercises.

David is a splendid person to work with and talk yo.

He and i are working on a non-musical project that is turning into quite an event that looks to be a big challenge that should be a great experience for both of us.Not only are there great writers, terrific singers, gifted musicians and fabulous "Knob turners" on those mixing devices - but also, some terrific people behind the music. All three gentlemen i've collabed with these past couple of weeks have the most talented, respected and down-right great people I've run into in my many years in the music biz (50+).

David is so cool and brings many things to the table that have never been brought to mr previously. He's spirited, unabashed, determined, confident and know his strengths quite well.

One thing I truly enjoyed working with David is he's not bashful to let you know how he wants to do something and holds his ground. But, her does it with sincere grace and respect. And ya know what ... the great majority of the time he's right.

The other two gentlemen with whom I'm working With are equally great to work with. They are talented yet humble. AND............. very talented,

David, you are great, my man! And Scott and Rob, with whom I'm also working, same goes for you. I think out work will be posted soon. the cuts you sent me this evening were spot on - pretty much ready to go.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and the most rewarding new year ever.

Alan & Di

PS: Hope to do some more of this!

I certainly have been enjoying your wonderful music this year.

Thanks Alan! It was a great song to work with!

This "switched to threaded mode" thing works on some threads but not all and it is very confusing, so I hope I have not replied twice.

Merry Christmas!
