New composition by Southern Fried, we used BIB for the drums, bass, and some piano backing, we love the ease of use of this product, type in chords, so easy and so good for writing. You would need to listen to the Guy Clark (RIP) song LA Freeway to get a real good understanding of this song. IT is a fictional account of a band going out west to LA to set the west coast on fire. HA, the part about going down from San Bernadino is true, we were pulling a fifth wheel to LA to work back in 2000 and going down the interstate into Anaheim, there were forest fires mingling smoke with fog, heavy and being new to the area we were getting cussed , boned , and screamed at for going to slow. HA, well any how here is the song , hope you enjoy.

I love how much of your own story you guys put in to this song. Had you not mentioned it, I would have never known! It puts a much more personal spin on the song. Pulling from your own experiences always makes song more impactful! Awesome work guys. Look forward to seeing more from you in the future.

Enjoyed this a lot...

Would love to see the lyric and RT's and RD's used.

We particularly like the laid back but not too mellow production. It tells the story well as do the vocal performances.

Nice!

Oh yes. I like that.

Great title which caught my attention.
Then an excellent line dance type song.
Made me feel like dancing anyway.

Cheers.

Dear "cliftond"...

In my response to your comments about "Bottom Dollar Blues", I asked if you had posted anything to the User's Forum. Well, before I logged out for the night, I ran across "Valley of the Dolls". I blinked and grinned with surprised recognition because I remembered the best-selling novel of the late 60's with the same name. "Whoa!", I said to myself, "this song is gonna be interesting!"...

...and so it was! First thing I noticed was the ease and warmth in the way you laid down the lyrics through your voice. You sound like a man who has a lot of stories to tell, but who doesn't want to rush the storytelling. And the brief bits of harmonizing on the track, they made me feel like I was hearing your memories.

May I add also that your written introduction to your song was incredibly interesting? It was so descriptive that I felt as though I was reading a page out of a novel!

This was a memorable tale set to some laid-back, but moving music.

Hello Gentlemen,

Nice bit of kinda laid-back (but too much) Southern Country. Your background intros are a real treat! Like someone mentioned previous, sure would like to see the lyric along with the music. Nonetheless, it certainly doesn't detract from the music. Liked it a lot!

I kinda smiled when you mentioned Barstow early in the song. I lived in Bakersfield for a number of years and went through Barstow when we went to Vegas once a month. It probably won't get any mentions for prettiest town in California! But now you can totally avoid it as Highway 58 runs completely around the town - four lanes divided.

And I've traveled Slauson Ave from the 405 to the 710. And nope ... not exactly the Hollywood image!

Enjoyed the song. Thanks for a real nice listen.

cliftond,

This does have an LA Freeway/Jerry Jeff feel to it... laid-back country-rock...

Easy on the ears.

This has that Cali sound for sure. I enjoyed my listen. Something about your voice just draws me in. Well done, Tom

clifton, man this reminds me so much of country rock style of post CCR John Fogerty (one of my top 2/3 favorites) which is a good thing! I love the raw sound of the guitars over the backing of “the band”. Great tune! Thanks, Torrey

Here are the lyrics, Primarily used BiB, vice Real band on this, seemed easier

We were playing a set
in a little cafe
We had a four piece band
and sounded okay
all of our intentions were good
we never broke any laws

An inspiration came
in the twinkling of an eye
got a text from a friend
who was passing by
it said I'll meet you down
in the Valley of the Dolls

We packed up our van
with guitars and such
we wrote a song or two
just to give it that touch
hit the interstate heading west
from Arkansas

By the time we gassed up
in Barstow California
There was nothing but desert
let me warn you
on the way down to the Valley of the Dolls

Chorus
well it was smoke and fog
all the way to the bottom
if they could raise a middle finger boy
I tell you we got 'em
Our great expectations were looking
kind of small

we finally rode around in hollywood
saw capitol records, thought maybe we could
get a good deal down in the Valley of the Dolls

We played our songs every chance we could
not a single time around hollywood
the outside of capitol records
was all we saw
we figured Guy Clark had a better plan
so we took that LA Freeway to the promised land
and left our dreams in the Valley of the DOlls

CHorus
Well it was smoke and fog all way to the bottom
if they could raise a middle finger
I think we gottem
our great expectations were looking kind of small

We decided Guy Clark had a better plan
so we took that freeway out to the promised land
and left our Dreams in the Valley of the Dolls

We decided Guy Clark had a better plan
so we took that freeway out to the promised land
and left our Dreams in the Valley of the Dolls
