Well, sometimes you will get on a music forum (not this one) and a person will say something really oddball, and all you can do is write a song.

This has about 42 Real Tracks in it, please don't make me list each one. Also, I am playing some other guitars. Also, I was NOT watching Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story on Netflix for the 40th time in a row when I came up with this idea. Don't even think it.

smile

P.S. Thanks to Floyd for giving some background singing loops and making me/helping me rewrite the bridge so people wouldn't kill me.

Just Plain Folks
By David Snyder

V1

And now that my days
At the forum are done
And I never got a chance to sing
The song that wasn’t sung
I have wonder about those things
I might have done wrong
And how to live my life next time
To write a better song
And how to live my life next time
To write a better song, cause

CH:

We’re just plain folks
It’s all that we can be
We shouldn’t cut one another’s throats
Cause it’s just not neighborly, and it ain’t me
And I shouldn’t put my ego out
For all the world to see
Cause then I’ll start fight a fight and someone will surely come for me
Oh darling can’t you see
It’s all about the good folks, and the plain folks and the old folks
And the young folks , and the smart folks, and the dumb folks
And the downright ordinary down to earth folks
Sometimes you have to forgive and forget
Just as long as you still see
It’s all about the plain folks, and honey…it ain’t nothing…
It ain’t nothing, it’ ain’t nothing
About me

Bridge:

And you might not like how I do things
But sometimes I gotta let it out
I was born so country girl
Sometimes I just gotta shout, ‘cause
(go ahead and sing it son, tell him the King sent ya)

CH:

We’re just plain folks
It’s all that we can be
We shouldn’t cut one another’s throats
Cause it’s just not neighborly, and it ain’t me
And I shouldn’t put my ego out
For all the world to see
Cause then I’ll start fight a fight and someone will surely come for me
Oh darling can’t you see
It’s all about the good folks, and the plain folks and the old folks
And the young folks, and the smart folks, and the dumb folks
And the downright ordinary down to earth folks
Sometimes you have to forgive and forget
Just as long as you still see
It’s all about the just plain folks, and honey…it ain’t nothing…
It ain’t nothing, it’ ain’t nothing
About me, oh naw girl

Epic Anthem Rideout for All My Peeps

It’s not about me, oh no, it’s not about me,
Oh honey, Let it Be, Let it Be now
Set the Free Bird Free
can’t you see, just set me free,
Just let it be, set the freebird free,
I was blind but now I see, oh honey it’s not about me
Set the free bird free
And let it be
Can’t you see, it’s not about me
Set the free bird free
Set the free bird free now…
Etc.

David,
Some down home therapy going on here- almost in Tater`s territory until you segwayed into the Love Is All You Need kind of ending.
I found it catchy and sure hope it helped!

Very creative song David. Love these tunes.
Well done

"Set the free bird free, " is it?
The usual awesome vocals, with extra credit to one of the best BB backups ever.
Sounds good. I love the chorus. Thanks for including us dumb folks in there lol.
Excellent, David! I love your way with words, good writing!

Love the way you build the intensity up at the end, very well done!

And, after reading your song description I'm curious as to what the original bridge was wink
Dewey, Dewey, Dewey...

You are such a rose-colored-glasses kind of guy. It's inspirational from every angle...

Na-Na-Na-Na Na-Na-Na-Na Hey, Hey Jude don't be afraid....

smile

Thanks Robert!

I feel much better now, thank you.

smile

Thanks Scott!!

Thanks Ed. Yeah, I'm gonna set the free bird free man!! I have no idea if Ancestry.com will tell me I am a country bumpkin, but I have a sneaky feeling it will.

smile

Thanks Samuel.

That line was kinda self referential and pointed at myself, so you can ignore it. I would put you in the smart people group.

Good luck with FAWM country brother!!!

smile

Thanks Dave!!

Well, I guess the original bridge is going the grave with Floyd Jane.

He is my musical counselor and adviser, and he essentially told me, in so many words, that while I may be the biggest country bumpkin he has ever met, there are just certain things you can't say in a forum song (not this forum mind you) unless you want the town mob to show up at your house.

So, I have taken his advice before, and I took it again this time. He is a wise man, that Floyd Jane he is.

I know discretion is the better part of valor, Dave, but
just for grins, would you drop a hint on the topics
subject of Floyd's caution? Maybe there is a
way of putting it. If you don't. it will be perfectly
understandable.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Maybe later Ed. Need to think on that one.

What a tune, David! The spirit of Bob Dylan is strong in this one. Your vocal performance sounds so effortless in this one - it just flows so well with the chosen arrangement, and the emphasis you put on your words makes them really stick in your head. At least, that's what I found smile Overall, just a strong tune that is the perfect level of catchiness.

Thanks so much for sharing - you should be proud of this one!
Awesome David! Everything from Dylan to Skynyrd going on here! You keep churning them out and I don't know how you do it! Thanks, Torrey

Hi David

Am in awe of the way lyrics and musical ideas flow from your brain.
You are fearless man but i hope you don't go too far one day and

"then I’ll start a fight and someone will surely come for me"

Scary line.

Keep inspiring us.
Cheers.

I really like this song. Very intensive with great feeling.
Excellent performance.

Sergio
Thanks Floyd!

I will do my best to be less optimistic and more rational next time.

David,

Another great one... you are just firing on all cylinders. Some really outstanding songs and production.

Loved it!

Bob
All of the above yeah...

I'm sure there are a lot of dots one can connect here to apply to many circumstances, etc. But it makes me wanna head to that "other forum" and try to understand the genesis of this.

Must've been some heavy crap happening over there...or of course it could've been nothing more than typical forum musings. It doesn't take much to stir your creative juices.

Irrespective of the dynamics (in the social sense grin ) it yielded one helluva strong song that has more tracks in it than our last eight.

Captivating.

J&B

Tremendously creative. Kinda reinforced, electrified "wall of sound"! Really enjoyed this.

Peace,

Ian

Hi David,

I can fully empathize with this. I've been a member at JPF for 19 years. it gets a little sideways sometimes! I was a moderator on a couple of forums for a while got to interact with some real popular folks who did popular reviews over there. Changed the screen name a couple of years ago for personal reasons.

Anyway, enough of all that. loved this! it took me a while to get to this song but finally made it. I've had a bit of a medical setback (nothing real serious) and Di is perpetually at the doctor's office or in the hospital. butm hey, that's what life brings sometimes!

And yeah, the folks over there can make you scratch and shake your head at times. I fully understand what you're saying here. And you said it well! Always love your creativity! Job well done!

Alan

Thanks Deryk!

As they say in BIAB marketing (I think), "It should be illegal to have this much fun."

smile

Thanks Torrey. I am glad you liked it. There are two secrets as to how I do it.

1.) I am trying to catch up to you.

2.) I am crazy.

I have no idea which one of those is more influential though.

smile

Thanks again!

Hey Rich,

Well as they say around here "I ain't scared!!!!!"

There are two things I know for sure in this world you should not do.

1.) Send in a bogus tax return to the IRS.

2.) Pick a fight with a certified card-carrying country bumpkin. (Like me.)

They are both really stupid things to do.

smile

Thanks Sergio. That means a lot. Can't wait to hear your next masterpiece!

smile
Hello, David

This is just a simple folk song.
However, the essence of the folk song is full.
I think the listeners don't notice that 42 RealTracks are used unless they listen to it very carefully.
I think that processing of DAW was serious.
It is an exertion
I admire you.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi

Thanks Bob!

I am glad you liked it man! You are one of my influences, like Dylan!! And Reed!!

smile

Thanks J&B,

I am glad you caught the drift of the heavy social message here in my Dylan rant protest song for all the people who just want to write their songs and be left alone by the nutjobs!!
