A Life To Live

A simple song telling that it's better to grab the hand of life here today and not to keep waiting for your retirement or some divine sign. Vocals by me and Miira. All comments welcome smile

RealDrums: FunkSyncSnare
RealTracks:
Electric bass #1398
Acoustic guitar #2677
Electric guitar rhythm #2756, #2904, #2158
Electric guitar solo #2829
Acoustic piano #1405
Organ #686

Vocals: Janne & Miira

Mixed in Sonar Platinum

Lyrics:

I'm sitting by the stream of life
skipping stones without a plan
there's only one sure thing
I'll meet Charon the ferryman
"you still have a life to live".

I'm sitting at the stop of life
asking God to give a sign
if I wait 'til the pearly gates
he'll tell he sent a daily line
"you still have a life to live".

I see the light I hear your call today
I take the first boat and I float away
no more fear that I would go astray
I find the words been scared to say:
I have a life to live.

I'm sitting by the tide of life
waiting for my pension age
if I now fast forward
I'll reach my terminal stage
"you still have a life to live".

I see the light...

The lighthouse of reason is my guide
through the fog of uncertainty
surfed on the waves of consciousness
the caring hearts supporting me.

No more wasting time
on the dock of the bay
I hold your hand
and we seize the day
we canoe the bridge of the dawning ray
we find the easy words to say:
I have a life to live.

"The stream has no end no beginning
time is a journey to its being
leave some ripples when you row
give your share for its flow."

Hi Janne and Miira.

Very much like your lyrics and the sentiments expressed in the song.
Like both voices the laid back presentation.
Nice and unpretentious. Good one.

Cheers.

Wow, this song is really outstanding. Your arrangement sounds very professional!

This is my favourite part:

"I'm sitting by the stream of life skipping stones without a plan. There's only one sure thing, I'll meet Charon the ferryman. 'You still have a life to live!'"

Really great job.

Wow - within the first couple measures I knew I'd enjoy this one smile I love the soulful grooves on this one. It had my toe tapping the whole way through. The vocal performance from both of you is excellent, and the harmonies for the chorus work perfectly.

Really well done, thanks for sharing!

Thanks Peter for your kind words smile I'm glad you found the chord progression strong, it has some familiar elements but I haven't figured out in which song I might have heard them. But so far no-one has noticed so probably it is original enough smile

Thanks Janice and Bud for your kind words smile Nice to get another quotation for the first verse, although I'm bit surprised that no-one has mentioned the Otis Redding reference in the last chorus.
