Gold On Blue

Autumn trees
Gold on blue
Winter’s coming
Missing you
Missing you
Is my default
Even miss
All the times we fought
All the hateful things we said
All the bitter tears we shed

You and me
Day and night
Hot and cold
Wrong and right
All the secrets
We exchanged
Complicated games
We played
All the tender things we said
Inhibitions that we shed

Smiles are fixed
Hearts are broken
Can’t take back
The words you’ve spoken
Skin gets thinner
Bones get weaker
Nights get longer
Thoughts get bleaker
All the things I thought I knew
Not a single one of them was true

Autumn trees
Gold on blue
Winter’s coming
Missing you
Missing you
Is my default
Even miss
All the times we fought
All the hateful things we said
All the bitter tears we shed
All the tears we shed

Peter & Leon,

This is really nice. Excellent write. Some really nice melody moves.

Beautiful production. Nice lead... Good mix.

Leon's vocal is Exceptional. Warm, smooth, "comfortable" - super.

Those drums don't sound like the NashvilleEven8. Are they? (They sound good).

This is a very good listen. Really enjoyed it.

Beautiful song!

Sensitive lyrics and good vocals.

Love the melodic, tasteful guitar work, and great tone too! Mix also sounds great through the phones.

Nice one Peter and Leon, enjoyed the listen!

Peter and Leon, Good feel on this one. Nice lyrics and vocal. Love the complimenting guitar work. The sliding chords going into the solo were especially nice. Great job guys, Tom

Nice lyrics - right to the point, just like the lead guitar. Lovely major 7th sound. Enjoyable listen.

Wow - this is stunning smile Very, very pretty sounding. Also, you deserve kudos for the production on this. It sounds super professional, so much so that I'd even go so far as to say this is better than some professional recordings I've heard. It is so lush and bright. I wouldn't bat an eyelash if I heard this on the radio.

Very well done - thanks so much for sharing!

The lead on this is absolutely beautiful sounding. Very well done! It's a very lovely song.

Thanks floyd for those very nice words. The Drums - to be honest I'm not completely sure - the original version (recorded a while ago) was definitely the Nashville drums but the song went through a few changes and I can see I did alter the drums once but didn't change the BIAB file.

Peter & Leon,
I enjoyed the wise reflection in the lyrics, especially these:

Skin gets thinner
Bones get weaker
Nights get longer
Thoughts get bleaker
All the things I thought I knew
Not a single one of them was true

ouch- that hits home!
Leon`s vocal conveys the mood with warmth so the feeling is sad without being morbid.
The guitar break is sublime!
Very good work.

Hello, Peter & Leon

It will be autumn and winter from now on in Australia.
A little lonely atmosphere is very well expressed.
Very nice lead guitar!
Vocals, too!
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Leon's vocal qualities remind me of Rod McKuen.
A lovely setting for the narrative.
The lead lifts the song out of the box.

Very beautiful melody with nice chording. I like the melancholy lyrics and how the mood is captured in the piano and the lead guitar.

I was going to write the same thing about those lyrics but I see Robert beat me to the punch.

I really loved that lead guitar phrasing and tone!

Nice lyrics. And oh. I've been there. The tone and fx on the lead vocal, along with the lead guitar really set the mood very well.

If it were me would consider pulling the instrumentation down a bit ( and/or panning the instruments more) so your vocal rides more above it -- everything you chose is perfect, though. Very nice.

Every time Janices hears this I notice a tear on her face. That says it all really.

It’s melancoly, emotive, well performed and produced.

Your and Leon’s years together really shine on this with the wonderful vocal and guitar interplay.

Outstanding guys!!

Another great song by you.

This is a song we could listen to several times in a row.
In fact while I'm writing it's finished and now I listen to it again. smirk

Great work as usual.
