Straight up rock song this time up, probably the least most popular showcase genre :P

Hopefully a few people might like it and it shows you can do rock with BIAB despite what some may think.

Time Flies

The band:
RealTracks in song: 995:Bass, Electric, HardRockLA Ev 120
RealTracks in song: 671:Organ, B3, Background Southern Ev 120
RealTracks in song: 1267:Synth Pad, PopShiningA-B Ev 120
RealDrums in song: RockHardModernEv8^2-a:Snare, HiHat , b:Snare, Open HiHat

I'm playing the guitar parts (tele rhythm, strat lead) processed though S-Gear.

Trying out the new Scheps Omni Channel plugin on this song, I have it loaded on a few tracks. Also using other various plugins from waves and iZotope for the mix.

Mastered using Ozone 8 and LMC.

Time Flies (Christiane Spruit)

(V1)The prophecy lies
and time flies
I'm wondering why
the baker man
is not breaking the bread
The poets fight
they will probably die tonight
they will probably die tonight

(V2)Among the line
inactivity sign
a red traffic light
We redesign
the blueprint of our life
What we had in mind
it will probably die tonight
it will probably die tonight

And if I ask you
a little question
just the question
Have you ever been there ?
did you ever go there ?
You know time flies
You know time flies

(V3)In the flood of the tide
we are losing sight
Lets say goodbye
Good old friend of mine
The flood will run dry
Is it wrong or right?
We will probably die tonight
We will probably die tonight

Life's a little while
(do what you wanna do)
(do it now)

Life's a little while
(do what you wanna do)
(do it now)

Life's a little while
(do what you wanna do)
(do it now)

SOLO Guitar/outro

As always all comments are welcome.

Really nice work here, BlueAttitude smile I'm getting a strong 80's rock vibe on this one, especially with the vocals. I love the amount of energy behind this. It is indeed something you don't hear a lot of on the forums.

Thanks for sharing!

Really cool man!

Kinda reminds me of Eric Clapton with Cream and a killer female lead.

That guitar is smokin'!!!!

Dave & Chris,

ANOTHER cool opening (you are SO good at that grab-your-attention thing!)

Wow! Chris really "got her Grace Slick on" for this one! Great rock vocal. The processing on the vocal is excellent - really in-the-pocket.

KILLER guitar. I agree with David - a real Clapton/Cream thing happening... Great tone. That guitar is SINGING!!! All the way through.

The drums sound great. And you ALWAYS get a good organ sound... Great mix.

THIS is a true pleasure to listen to.

good strong stuff Fleetwood mac comes to mind on the arrangement side .

Your a good competent guitarist that makes a Big difference to a good song.

Dave,
Your intro here is stellar, and the guitar throughout gave me goosebumps.
Chris sounds like she means it, Grace Slick and the Wilson sisters
combined!
Played loud,going back for more.

So many clever & interesting touches in the arrangement.Loves the vocal part at 3.50.
Smoking hot guitar solos and excellent vocals.
I still hear some Rory Gallagher attitude in your rock solos but the overall sound is definitely yours.
A real showcase piece all round.

What a cool intro. Gave me a little Uriah Heap vibe when it kicked in... Man do I love this song Dave. Christiane's vocal was excellent and your guitar was so good. Well done. One of my favorites of yours......

Thanks, David!

The first band that really got me into music was the Beatles in '64, but the guy that made me want to learn guitar was Clapton.
First time I heard him was "White Room", so different from anything else I had heard up to that point. Still love that song!

Hi floyd,

I'm using the slapback echo/reverb technique on the vocal as discussed in that thread you started a while back. And a few other things too of course.

As far as Clapton goes, he was the first guitarist I really got into and was my main guy for many years. His early stuff with John Mayall, Cream, and Derek and the Dominos, never gets old for me.

Thanks for your support over the last few years! It is always appreciated and never taken for granted smile

Thanks, Beatmaster!

Never listened to much Fleetwood Mac to be honest, other than the Rumours album. And of course the original lineup with Peter Green on guitar.

Love the Grace Slick/Wilson sisters comment, and I'm sure it will make Chris smile when she reads it. Happy you liked the guitar too!

Yeah, always better loud smile

Grace at her best sittin' in with Cream....

The production, write, vocal, guitar, arrangement...it's all hittin' the note for us. Two listens on the monitors (nice soundstage you set up!) and later on the living room system. BTW, the vocal arrangement is really cool.

Rock on!!!

Rory Gallagher was a very special player, very much underrated in my opinion. I always liked his approach to solos and fills. Lots of subtle stuff going on with his playing.

I first heard him when I bought that Irish Tour '74 album, which pretty much blew me away, and I own most of his albums. Not only a fabulous guitarist, but he also wrote some pretty cool and unique songs too.

Thanks very much, Peter, happy you liked this!

Hey thanks, Scott!
Man, Uriah Heap is a name I haven't heard in a very long time. I have a couple of their albums here but it's been years since I listened to them. Might need to give them a spin!

Thanks, Janice and Bud!

This one was a lot of fun to mix, especially the vocals, lots to work with there with the four different tracks in places. The actual idea for the arrangement came from Chris, I just fine tuned it a little.

I originally had two more guitar tracks but decided they weren't adding anything useful, so I stripped it down to two. I think that in my old age I'm finally learning that less is more wink

Always great to get input from you guys, thanks for the listen and comments!
