This is my take on the old public domain hymn. It's an upbeat version that's been on my mind. My style will probably not be everyone's taste, but I play 'em the way they speak to me!! I will state right up front that I'm not totally satisfied with the vocals, but I have very limited access to my studio right now due to being out on the road (I had a very small window of time to record these last weekend). I plan to re-record them later. I still felt like posting though and I hope it speaks to someone! Thanks for listening!!

Excellent rendition of the hymn Torrey. Guitar and vocal were just excellent. Well done
Beautifully re-harmonized. That modulation about 2:00 was especially sweet. Your vocals rising in expression throughout was a big part of what kept interest. Really nice. I like this version a lot.

First off some great guitar playing. Nice rock sound and an good band sound.
Really nice work (liked the raw sounding vocals).

Hi Torrey,

Nice arrangement, good band, and tasty guitar work. What's not to like?

Works for me smile
Torrey,

Everything about this is good.

Nice arrangement. Good guitar. Good mix (love the punchy bass!)

I like the vocal!

The only way to make this better is to have a big gospel choir rockin' behind you!!! (I can hear the claps)

Excellent.

What a tune! Loving the 70's vibes here. I wouldn't have even known it was a hymn if you hadn't stated. Really professionally done smile Thanks for sharing!
We love it when an artist takes a public domain song to a new dimension.

You were able to retain the message and repackage into a fine production.

The vocal sounds great to us!! And, man, that guitar soars.

A very enjoyable listen(s)

Torrey,

J&B summed it up well- this has such great energy. Love the electric piano and of course your signature guitar chops and tone.
The vocal may be the better for less processing- sounds excellent to me.

Thanks so much for listening and commenting Ed! I especially appreciate hearing from you on this because you are the one who most often revives the old hymns for us here. I have 3 part harmony going on this but just didn’t have time to put in repeats and classic gospel choir type backup. Thanks again, T
Thanks Kenny! I always look forward to getting your take on my music. I really do appreciate it!! T
Thanks so much Dani! Your encouragement is always a big boost to me!! T
Hi Torrey

I am not a hymn kind of a guy, but the way you done this I would put as a " A SONG I WROTE ABOUT A HYMN ",

Because that is what you have done with this, I seen the title and just gave it a miss as I had other thoughts In my head, great sound and vocals, loved the guitar work glad I eventually gave it a listen.

Thanks
beatmaster, I’m glad you got a chance to listen! Thanks for your comments, they are appreciated! T
Hi Torrey,

Super! I don't see/hear the faults you perceive. It sounds terrific to me. Loved the key modulation! They always give a song a new life - a pick-me-up. Ya did good! Best to you.
