She's My Myth https://soundcloud.com/scott-schwarz-740132899/shes-my-myth-1

This was my first BIAB production that I made about 10 months ago. I've kept it with all the production flaws and weak, tentative vocals as a personal reference point that I can use to measure improvement. Someday, I will redo the whole bloody thing.

Tracks:
RT1030 Guitar, 12-String Electric, Fingerpicking
RT1119 Guitar, 12-String Acoustic, Strumming
RealGuitar 632 Guitar, Electric, Rhythm PopAmericanMuted
RT2692 Organ, Rhythm ModernPopSlowMike
RT511 Guitar, Electric, Soloist Dire
RealBass 388 Bass, Electric, Metal
RealDrums-NashvilleEven8^6-HiHat,HHatO

Lyrics:
I’ve been loving her inside my head
I’ve been living on the things she said
She's all the mystery I could live with
She’s a goddess
She’s my myth

I’ve been looking for the subtle signs
Reading over and in between the lines
She's all the mystery I could live with
She’s a goddess
She’s my myth

And when the morning breaks
I know she’s the one I’ve been searching for
Although I’ve made mistakes
She’s always waiting at my door

She’s been ruling me with her hallowed power
Haunting all my dreams in my darkest hour
She's all the mystery I could live with
She’s a goddess
She’s my myth

And when the morning breaks
I know she’s the one I’ve been searching for
Although I’ve made mistakes
She’s always waiting at my door

I’ve been loving her inside my head
I’ve been living on the things she said
She's all the mystery I could live with
She’s a goddess
She’s my myth

And I don’t believe it

I like it!! I've used the 12 sting finger picked guitar a few times....cool RT. This is a fun, sweet song! I think the vocals are quite good! Enjoyed it!! Take care. Greg

The link took me to your page not the tune indicated - I didn't see the song - perhaps I need to go back and scroll! smile I'm streaming from my phone to our audio system and SC is very awkward on the phone app. Will check later on the computer. My problem...not yours!

Enjoyed the lyric!!!

Sorry about that. I fixed the link.

Scott,

This is really nice. It sounds like something that would be on AM Hit radio in the late 60's. Catchy. A sure-fire 45!

Nice mix.

Great work Ezekiel's Storm! Excellent mix-down on all of this and the chord progression is very nice. Those guitars sound quite warm too. Well done!

It really does have that sound floyd mentioned. Cruising along in a mustang in 1965 listening to the radio.

Infectious is our word for it. Grabs you from the get go.

Nice!

Dear "Ezekiel's Storm"...

Quoting you: "I've kept it with all the production flaws and weak, tentative vocals as a personal reference point that I can use to measure improvement."

??? Huh? Say, what? Would you care to show me where in your song you think the "weak, tentative vocals" appeared? Where the "production flaws" are?

What these ears heard was a confident, enthusiastic vocal that could only have been the result of your own inspiration and pride in singing your own smoothly constructed and simply expressed lyrics. It sounded as though you were smiling as you sang it. Your RealTrack assignments filled my head with more exuberant, full-bodied music than I could I appreciate in one listening, a problem I remedied by listening to it again.

Understand me, please: all musical productions have flaws, right? Nonetheless, in my opinion, it's the net effect of all the production elements combined that create an impression on a listening audience.

And so, to wrap all of this up, your song,"She's My Myth" (what a wonderful title that is smile !!!), sounded dang good to me !!!

Impressed,

LOREN (a.k.a. "bluage")

This is a great song. I can for sure hear it on the radio.

Great vocals and super mix.

It's a very cool song - melody & progression are bright and very UP.
I can hear this with a little more early Mersey to it via a bright chiming rhythm guitar and a less countrified lead guitar.
You've an excellent template to work from.

The backing tracks you chose for this very catchy song are pretty darn assured for a first BiaB song!
We are our own toughest critics when it comes to vocals ... seems like folks here, myself included, didn`t find anything lacking in your vocals here.
A very good upbeat song.

Well, I've tried twice to leave a comment and when I hit "submit" - it simply disappeared. (at the same time I left the comment over on Soundcloud) Isn't cyberspace a wonderful place??!! Hopefully it will work this time.

Loved it - found no mistakes/flaws as you mentioned - you must have been listening to a different version before you settled on this one. It reminded me of what was popular after the beginning of the British invasion in the early to mid 60s. That 12-string really puts it in that arena.

If I had vocal chops like yours, I's celebrate and tell everybody! Totally loved it! And, BTW - referring back to Floyd's comment - I had a '66 Mustang GT convertible in the late 60s and man, I could hear this playing as I drove all around St. Louis back then.

Just FWIW - I lived in Virginia in the middle 60s - first Woodbridge (near DC) and then Blackstone (west of Petersburg on Highway 460).

Cool song - i could stand a few more like this. Best to you.

Thanks, Greg. I love that 12 string too. I hope that PG includes more 12 string electric in their newer versions of BIAB.

Thanks, Floyd Jane. AM hit radio was the soundtrack of my adolescence.

Thanks for the positive comments, blueage. I am glad you hear something different than I do. I think the vocal is a bit listless. Perhaps, that is because when I was recording the vocal takes, I was in a rush because I had a new toy (BIAB), and I could actually record and produce my songs and couldn't wait to hear the end product. Now, I take my time.

Ray, thanks for your feedback. I would like to hear more 60s style guitar in BIAB. I am just an mediocre guitar player, so I rely on BIAB to be my Wrecking Crew.

Thanks, Robert for taking the time to listen and comment on my song. You are fight about being tough on ourselves. My wife tells me I am too critical when it comes to music.

Alan, thanks for the positive response. I am in the north west part of VA. BTW, I've got a 66 Corvair. It doesn't have the muscle of a 66 Mustang, but it looks good.

This is a really solid tune smile Very gentle on the ears, and quite catchy as well. Reminds of something that would've come out in the 90's, almost. Love some of the guitar work on this too.

Great work here and thanks for sharing!

Hi Etekiel's Storm,

everything's just great about this song. Yes, it does have that sixtues feel, but it sounds far better than songs usually sounded way back then. I enjoyed it very much. Really just amother great job.

All the best,

Stefan

Thank you, Stefan, for the listen and the feedback. It has been several years since I've been to Germany. I need to get back there sometime soon. I absolutely love the food.

Great song & performance...
I really like the the simplicity of the piece as well as vocals, especially the harmonies...
Good job... very pleasing to my ears!

Great Pop!

which I love, very nice harmonies and placement of them

love that 12 string sound

sounds like a song I would hear on AM as a kid and then be obsessed

with finding out who that was

enjoyed the listen,

Kenny

I TOTALLY agree... this is an excellent listen!

I'm a huge fan of music from the 1960s. This creation of yours would stand proudly side-by-side any of the number 1 singles from that period. You've done a terrific job creating and presenting this.

All the best,
Noel

Very cool song!

i like the melody,...especially on the section that starts with "when the morning breaks"

I also like the false ending at about 3:40.
you might even want to try to make that break last a little longer.

i agree that it has a 60's sound. i hear Cowsills smile

peace!

Ezekiel's Storm, this is such a great melding of influences from the 60's, 70's and 90's. I skipped the 80's on purpose! At least to my ears anyway! A superb mix and performance! Thanks, Torrey

Not bad at all. I didn't notice anything that bugged me. Love the sentiment, and the lyrics. The upbeat rhythm and simple, classic arrangement I thought complimented them very nicely.

i think this is really done-- the music and the harmony stand out. Very catchy

This flows along nicely with just the right amount of feel.

Reminded me of a Steve Harley cockney rebel style.

Thanks
