RADIO MAGIC
By David Snyder

https://soundcloud.com/david-snyder-gigs2/radio-magic

V1

Everybody said we were born
On the wrong side of the street
We fought for everything we had
When it all seemed out of reach
All we had was our radio
You might say it wasn’t much

CHORUS

But that Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
That Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
And that was enough

V2

Now nobody can put us down
Cause we’re braver than the rest
We fought with heart and we sung with soul
When they put us to the test
All we had was our radio
You might say it wasn’t much

CHORUS

But that Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
That Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
And that was enough

Bridge

Oh I remember our fighting days
the summer time,
those ocean waves,
the board walk town,
the magic sound,
those frantic kisses under the stars,
the loud guitars
when we knew exactly who we are

CHORUS

And that Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
That Radio Magic
Helped us fall in Love
And that was enough
That was enough
That was enough
(repeat, ride out)

Nice... kinda Bruce Springsteen-ish ... loved that layering on the RADIO MAGIC phrase. Well done.

Hi David,

I fully agree with Herb's Springsteen analogy. This really is a terrific song. You'll touch a lot of memories for a lot of folks with this. I could instantly relate to this - mine was a blue and off-white transistor radio. I think a lot of old farts like me will be able to own the sentiment in this one. The chorus is total pleasure - both lyrically and the way you sound-crafted it. I can say without hesitation that this is my very favorite song of yours that I've heard. As I said over on Soundcloud - this is pure gold.

The chorus is a blend of honey and butter. Alan is right, you do touch a lot of memories with this song. This song sounds like it would have been part of that radio magic of yesteryear.

My 1st thought was Jefferson Starship's We Built This City as it has that nostalgia hit as well as a BIG chorus hook. It'd really suit that production and Grace's voice.
Great work.

Very cool tune David. I got the Springsteen vibe to start as well. Very cool harmonies. Super vocal and backtrack. Such a creative lyric. Super story telling. Well done

My new favorite from you I think. What a song!

Just great writing, very easy to relate to the lyrics.

Man, and the way you handled that chorus ... brilliant!

Excellent, David!

David, thanks for posting this. Here's what struck me most about your track:

1) Really liked how you doubled up on the "radio magic" words in the chorus...very effective!
2) Loved your overall concept, on the radio--as has been said before, the old-timers here remember the first notes of "She Loves Me" and other "magic" coming through the little transister radio that was tucked under the pillow, until the 9v battery wore out!

----Sorry about that very specific memory, but I'll bet alot of the forum friends remember that one clearly!

3) Great design overall, chorus repeat, the way you ending it...all the way around, excellent production concept.

4) I didn't get the reference to the fighting, but I'm thinking that it comes from being on opposite sides of the track? But I liked the idea that common radio experiences were able to resolve conflict.

Thanks again for keeping the creativity going!

Sounds like a David Snyder song to me.

Super cool sound in the chorus. Very Pop.... good arrangement... nice mix.

Could easily see this making a little Radio Magic.

That was enough.

The radio was such a powerful thing back in the day. I kind of miss that radio seems to have phased out and there are fewer and fewer radio stations now that everything is hand-held these days, or is being streamed.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi David,

Great song - I really liked it. Instantly activated a lot of memories from the 70s where I spend many nights listening to Radio Luxembourg (probably an European thing).

Thanks for sharing!

That is a terrific write, vocal performance and production. Top notch.

I'm old and remember the all night 50K watt clear channel stations. WLAC taught me to love the blues when I was a kid.

Thanks for the memories with a wonderful song.

David,

I could have sworn I commented on this . . . but better late than never? This has such a Springsteen feel to it (the arrangement and supporting instrumentation, in particular), but your vocals give this its own sound. Really sweet sound here—great hook! Impressive!

All the best,

Deej
