Hi All,
Here's something new...
This is called
Light It Up.
Looking down our empty street
I can see the rain’s still falling
And was it yesterday
Some real promises were broken
I don’t know just what is real
Cause I’m aware I’m falling
This house is quiet tonight
Except for the strangers calling
So good
So fine
Light it up baby
Just one more time
Before you go
Turn it up
Burn it down
Looking down memory lane
I can see the shadows falling
And was it in my mind
Some final words were spoken
I don’t accept what I feel
Cause I know you’re falling
This is my last appeal
Except for the days I’m calling
So good
So fine
Light it up baby
Just one more time
Before you go
Turn it up
Burn it down
So good
So fine
Light it up baby
Just one more time
Before you go
Turn it up
Burn it down

Really well written ballad. Reminded me of Dylon.
Well done rsdean! Really enjoyed the tempo that this is at. Great choice of instrumentation too they sound very nice together. Thanks for sharing!
Sounds cool.
the 1st guitar chord is alarmingly loud though.
Your vocal is just right for the setting though there're some levels, plosives and essing that could be treated with a fast attack compressor etc. to make it sit even better.
Good work.
Bob,
There`s a slow burn to this one I enjoyed - lots of emotion in your vocals especially the chorus.
Love that Americana rhythm guitar building through the song.
Very good!
Robert
Hi Robert,
You never disappoint. Every time I click onto one of your songs I know I'm in for a treat - and this was a delicious one! That slow burn Robert mentioned is spot on and works so nicely for this one. Your vocal sits right in it like an added touch of sugar in a hot chocolate. Totally enjoyed it! Best to you.
This sounded so good on the headphones. I really liked the intro. Your voice has always reminded me of Dylan. This is one of your best vocals Bob. Such a cool song. Perfect for a Saturday night.
I always enjoy hearing your music, such passion in those vocals! And great writing.
I liked that first guitar part, didn't seem too loud to me. Mix sounds good through both the studio headphones and monitors.
Another good song from you!
Bob, enjoyed my listen! I especially liked:
1) how you created a distinction between the verse music and the 'in-between' bars...using the elec 12-string strum to 'calm down' the backing to support your verse vocals.
2) the strong, but simple chorus melody/lyric: using 2- to 4- syllables per line...very efficient and good for the listening!
3) your vocal, just right for the genre...and produced so professionally! I'm envious!!
4) the overall song didn't try to do too much, you stuck to your message, lyrically and musically--I think that really shows excellent design!
Thanks for posting your outstanding work!
Bob,
This is so cool man! I really enjoyed this!
I can always count on you to give us a taste of the West Village, and those rainy, midnight, desolate, crime-ridden and forbidden streets with Lou Reed hunched over in the darkness smoking a cigarette on the corner standing in a pile of dirty New York City snow--
while everyone else is writing Christmas songs.
I love it!!
Bob,
You are on Fire! This oozes passion.
Good write. Good band. Awesome vocal.
Excellent listen start to finish.
fj
Enjoyed the listen - solid work all around.
Bob, I really like this one. The highly compressed snare and the dry elec rhythm guitar were inspired choices. The build to the higher melody in the choruses just let’s them fly. Great work, Tom
Very nice song, I enjoyed listening to this track. Very smooth and pleasant voice. Well done!
Will
Ray,
Thanks - appreciate the listen.
Bob
Robert,
I appreciate that - thanks!
Bob
What a great reflective write,
So good
So fine
Light it up baby
Just one more time

Turn it up
Burn it down
love these lines, so strong, so good
enjoyed the heck out of the listen,
Kenny
Alan,
Thanks. I appreciate that!
Bob
"turn it up
burn it down"
That's worth the price of admission alone!
The lyric is succinct and just cuts through it all. And it is well delivered by your vocal performance and supported by a great band and mix (very effective builds and dynamics).
Nothing left to say other than we agree with ALL of the aforementioned accolades.
Terrific listen and addition to our playlist.
J&B
hi bob really well done great write excellent mix perfect thanks eric
Scott,
That's a great compliment - thank you.
Bob
cool tune.
The bass was booming on my computer a bit. Might want to tame it. Since no one else has mentioned it, it might just be these crappy speakers.
I'll listen later on my buds.
Yeah that has a Lou Reed kind of feel.... mixed with Dylan.
I liked it.
A good write... I also enjoyed the chord progression you chose... It fits the lyrics so well... I actually picked up the acoustic & strummed along... Nice production... I like it!
Great sounding track Bob!! The bass may be a little loud....my headphones handle it well but it definitely resonates. The arrangement is awesome.......great build of the instruments. I think the band is PERFECT. Some really cool lyrics. Definitely one for your greatest hits album!! Take care. Greg
Bob
A superb ballad and an incredible passionate vocal. Agree with all the accolades.
Brilliant stuff.
Peter
Very nice song as usual. The starting chords remind me to Donovan's song "Atlantis" but here there is more rockin' energy.
Sergio
Tano,
That's a great review - I appreciate the time and listen.
Thanks,
Bob
David,
That's very kind of you - I appreciate that.
I am enjoying your new one as well!
Thanks,
Bob
"rsdean"...
You write lyrics like someone who only comes outside at night (not literally, of course!), but in the sense that if they were exposed to the light of day, their meaning would be too much to bear. There are thoughts and feelings that simply must be communicated under the cover of darkness, because they're so intimate, and so personally revelatory. Isn't that the reason why our lovemaking so often takes place after the sun goes down?
The RealTracks provide a depth of musical empathy necessary to illuminate the drama in your anxious lyrics as they come out in your aching vocal. That held acoustic bass, in particular, is so deep and resonant that it sounds bottomless.
You create your own, unique world in your songs, "rsdean". "Light It Up" shows us another corner of it.
Peering into your reality,
LOREN
Floyd,

Robert,
Love your vocal on this, brings a lot of heart; you can feel the emotion. And the production, particularly your choice of instrumentation on that chorus—everything hits the right notes. Perfectly executed production—very impressive. Great stuff!
Best regards,
Deej

Cool song "noir" and what a great sounding passionate vocal!
Bob,
What an emotional vocal!
As many others say, I also remembered Dylan.
The contrast between Verse and chorus is exquisite.
The interlude guitar is very impressive.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.
Best regards.
Shigeki Adachi
THis one is so clean and present sounding to my ears Robert and builds tempo just right to a climatic tone, brings my emotion along with it , just like a good song should. Great vocals also...... Cliff
