It had to be done. And only one man could it. The man. The legend. Tater "Nashville" Totts. Singlehandedly putting the Jesus back into Christmas.

Country Christmas

Performed by Tater “Nashville” Totts

V1

When we done our Christmas shopping
little April came up to me
Said Mommy and Daddy
The neighbor’s don’t have
Any presents beneath the tree
See Mr. Smith can’t find a job
Ms. Price is all alone
Unless you’re filling boxes for Amazon
They’ll come and take away your home

Pre CH

She said Daddy you’re a Christmas music star
So do what Jesus would do
Give all my toys to the neighbors
They need them more than me and you

CH

It’s just another Country Christmas
With no presents beneath the tree
Cause we gave them to the neighbors
Christmas love doesn’t come for free
We did what Jesus told us and that’s good enough for me
All we have is Country Love
Underneath our Christmas Tree
But if it’s good enough for Jesus
It’s good enough for me

V2

Little Jimmy was pointing at the TV
Said Daddy look at Washington
The President’s making all the money these days
While people ‘round here got none
Half the kids in school are hungry
They’re not playing golf day
Their daddy is fighting overseas
And he’s hardly getting paid

Pre CH

Then my wife said honey you’re a Christmas music star
Let’s tell the story that Jesus would tell
Let’s give all our food to the neighbors this year
And tell Washington they can go to Hell

CH

It’s just another Country Christmas
With no presents beneath the tree
Cause we gave them to the neighbors
Christmas love doesn’t come for free
We did what Jesus told us and that’s good enough for me
All we have is Country Love
Underneath our Christmas Tree
But if it’s good enough for Jesus
It’s good enough for me

Bridge

They say it’s better to give
Than to receive
And if you have your neighbor’s love
I’m sure you will agree

Cause..

Chorus

It’s just another Country Christmas
With no presents beneath the tree
Cause we gave them to the neighbors
Christmas love doesn’t come for free
We did what Jesus told us and that’s good enough for me
All we have is Country Love
Underneath our Christmas Tree
But if it's good enough for Jesus
It's good enough for me

Tater's makin' it happen.

That is one of the most original Christmas songs I've heard in years.
A good write. Solid.

A nice production. Sounds like... Country Christmas...

Merry Christmas to you both!

You know I love Tater Tot but not at all what I was expecting. Not his usual tongue in cheek comedy. Good story and message though. Merry Christmas Tater.

D avid Synder...

Mr. Tater Totts sings your observant lyrics as though he wrote them himself, which makes the song sound sincere and truthful.

Musically, your RealTracks picks keep the song movin', movin' along quite nicely, like a raft on a rushing river, thank you!

And, boy, oh, boy, if Jesus returned today, I'd be afraid of how he would react...

Timely song, well-delivered by your jubilant music and Mr. Totts' urgent, town-crier voice.

Just in time for Christmas,

LOREN

Well, I now have a new favorite Christmas song!

Love the message, and great delivery.

Excellent, David smile
Really nice work Mr. Totts smile A really unique twist on the traditional Christmas tune. Really thought the message was wholesome and it make me smirk - plus, it's delightfully catchy on the chorus!

Great job - thanks for sharing!

Good sentiment in the song.

One of the best things we ever did was to look for someone who was having a hard time... we vetted them carefully and as secretly as we could.... then we gave them a christmas they weren't expecting. Food and simple gifts for the kids. Lots of hugs and tears, on both sides. The best christmas gift we ever gave.

Hello Tater,

As always, you came through when you were most needed. I have to agree with all that everyone has already said. When I was at Walmart today, a late middle-aged gentleman had a basket full of Christmas gift items/ His total bill came to $431.66.

I commented to him, "Looks like you did a good job of playing Santa Clause for your family."
He smiled as he pulled out his credit card to pay and them looked at me. He said, "My family's fine. These are for a family down the street who has nothing. The father lost a good-paying job back in late summer and now is a janitor for $9.00 an hour. A secret Santa will deliver these to their house Christmas Eve. I hope they like what I was able to get for them."

I thanked him for his compassion and big heart. When I mentioned his gift would bring him as much joy as it will the needy family, he smiled again and said, "It already has."

I dang near teared up on the spot - and I did when went I went home and told Di about him. Tater's song gave me the same feeling. Thanks for a warm feeling and a happy tear. This is such a great creation. God bless.

Ah, classic country. Subtle as a sledgehammer, and right on target.

I love the "Christmas music star" - like everything else in the song, clever and on point.

How you crank stuff out with such consistent high quality is mind-boggling.

Nice use of the "Ooohs" and "Aaahs".

David,

Good for you Tater - you always comes through with humour and wisdom in that twang!
The best Christmas song I`ve heard in too long.

OK I'm confused! How could a guy called Tatter Totts write a song about the true meaning of Christmas?

Well if its good enough for Tater Totts and Jesus then its good enough for me!

An excellent write and production David. This is a winner for sure.
