Johnny cash would have recorded this in a heartbeat, although I loved your version and no way can it be beat.

I often keep songs short so as not to bore the listener... even a short version can get the idea across.

I've not looked at previous comments ( a little pressed for time), so if this is redundant, sorry. The very first thought came to mind for me was "I thought Merle Haggard had passed on". I can hear him singing this as thought I was in the studio with him. But, you did a dang good job on it - ya didn't need Merle after all! yep, it's a goodern! Enjoyed it from beginning to end. Thank you H2L... Its not to late write a Christmas song this year...
Its seems easier to write one in December than in July or any other month...
Probably when Ralph Rainger & Leo Robin sat down in January 1934 to write a
Christmas Song, all they came up with was "June in January"
