Hi Folks.
It has been an exciting year for me in musical adventures. I am glad I found this super supportive BIAB community! This is the last tune of the passing year I will post. It is very special to me as this is my first online collaboration. I think I caught Dave (aka BlueAttitude) in a good mood smile and he agreed to write a guitar track for it. He made this collaboration a true pleasure. His guitar added exactly what was missing! Thank you Dave! I also want to thank Ray for reading my sloppy lyrics and making excellent suggestions. And also, big thanks to Bud & Janice for dedicating their time to listening to my mixes and giving gentle, yet very important tips. Thank you for listening and any improving suggestions you might give. Happy New Year!

Misha.

lyrics:
Every night he comes home,
Leaves his hat on a solid oak mantle,
Drops his tired body on cushions of silk.
Hypnotized by pendulum swings
And the gypsy dance of the candle

Chorus:
In his dreams he flies,
Spreading wings like a falcon
Laughing at days bygone , from the top of the sky
Sunny morning comes, clawing on the windows,
touching dusty pillows, under sweaty head

Yet another day passed,
Writing no stanzas in memory dairies,
Only idle hours snaking to dawn
Smoothing edges with fine glass of Bourbon.

In dreams he climbs peaks of highest mountains
and he laughs with joy at days gone by..
Rain with morning comes, drops hit like bullets,
shredding dream to ruin, calling to wake up

Wind is playing with the trash,
moon is shining like a Persian saber
Night is weaving spider mesh to catch good neighbors
But he is staying home alone - drinking Bourbon

Empty bottles scattered all across the bedroom
he is drunk, but sober...dreams are far away
Next day old postman comes with stack of letters
but no one answers his knocking on the door..

Misha,
Your joy at writing, playing, recording and singing is infectious.
This is a fabulous tale, fabulously told.
The intro with sax is a wonderfully sneaky touch - the surprise of the terrific guitar licks that follow is incredible.
Well done Dave - you've adorned the song.
TOP SHELF.

Misha,
Another mind bending tale sung with your unique panache and, as RayC said your joy of creation is infectious!
Very cool guitar backing from Dave.
I can hear the improvement in your mixes.
I like the way you ended the lyrics with the postman`s knock!

Ray, infectious? I hope it is a good kind of sickness, you know the one you get just enough to stay home from school, but still have enough energy to have fun all day long smile Thank you for dedicating your time and thoughts on this.

Bob, Thank you for listening and kind feedback!

Scott, Thank you! Yes, gritty is perfect word!

Robert, Thank you for listening and comment on mixing. That was a step up for me in learning and listening critically. Still have a long (long!) way to go. Fortunately, Dave's guitar was already done very well, I hope I did not diminish it.

Peter, thank you! As soon as Dave said he is willing to try it, I knew no matter which direction he will take, it will improve this song smile

Will, Thank you for support and mix comment!

Misha,

This is terrific!

A very interesting write. Cool melody. Your vocal is really nice.

The mix on this is REALLY good. The drums sound great. The piano is SO clean and crisp (really well processed.). EVERYTHING sounds good.

Dave's guitar is a delight.

Really enjoyed this.

Hey Misha and Dave,

This sounds great! What a wonderful way to end the year.

You guys should collaborate more.

Hi Misha,

that's a really nice one, I enjoyed listening to it very much.

Felt a bit like I should sit back and have a Bourbon myself, but it's just noon over here, alas...

Dave did an excellent job on the guitar - great tone, great lines!

Cheers,

Stefan

Thanks to everyone who mentioned my small part in this project, and thanks to Misha for the invite!

Misha has a knack of coming up with cool, unique song ideas, and it was a pleasure to be involved.

We loved this write and vocal performance from the get go.

Working that sax in with Dave's great performance takes this over the top.

Like Ray said, "This is a fabulous tale, fabulously told..."

Great entry into the New Year and we look forward to more down the road....

Very nice!!!

Your "small part" to this song was the icing on the cake.

Misha this is outstanding. Great mix! Super vocals and lyrics.

You two should be very proud of this one.

David, Thank you! When I have a tune that I will feel good about and in line with style Dave plays, I will ask him (gently) to do some magic smile

Stefan, Thank you for listening. It is a privilege to get your positive feedback.

Janne, Thank you for listening and kind note! Accent is deeply rooted, can not help it smile

Janice & Bud, Thank you for being there!

Mario, Thank you! I am not at a level Dave is musically and I am very grateful he took a step down and joined me on this.

Misha...

Your lyric imagination is thrillingly vivid:

"And the gypsy dance of the candle..."

"Rain with morning comes, drops hit like bullets..."

"Wind is playing with the trash..."

"He is drunk, but sober..."

Those lines read like excerpts from a screenplay; sharply realized visual blooms of places, interior states of mind, sounds as pictures.

Your Real Tracks have something of the feel of certain spy movie themes from the 60's, but danceable, too. "Blue Attitude", your guitar licks are like the snarls and growls of an wild animal about to escape its cage. Careful! He bites! laugh

Misha, your vocal conjured up in my mind the image of a magician performing tricks with words that dazzle and electrify the audience. "Atmosphere" is what this song of yours, "Bourbon", has. Atmosphere and mystery...

Enthralled,

LOREN

Hi Misha,

I TOTALLY agree with Ray.

I love, love, love this! You and Dave have done a great job! What a superb listen!

One thing that stood out to me is just how very well-thought-out your lyrics are. I've been to many Pat Pattison song writing seminars and, without fail, at every one of them, Pat has said, "The strength of good writing is in the verbs." Your lyrics show us all just how true Pat's words are!

'Excellence' doesn't get any better than this. Kudos to both you and Dave on a wonderful collaboration.

All the best,
Noel
