I was quite excited to be interviewed for my very first podcast the other night. It is a podcast called "Free Range Texan" and Michael interviews singer-songwriter type people for each episode and then features one of their songs. We talked A LOT about Band-in-a-Box and what a great product it is. The song that will be featured is "I AM WOMAN". Michael was quite amazed that the song took about three hours from start to finish. From original concept to writing to recording and then releasing.

Lyrics: I am water I am fire I am strength I am desire
I am not my voice Nor the colour of my skin I am not my clothes I am not defined by things
I am human I am woman I am enough
I am courage I am night I am the moon I am the light
I am not my body Nor am I my name I am not my face I am not defined by pain
I am human I am woman I am enough
I dont know where life's road will lead I'm only ever guessing I want to take only what I need Understand the blessing
I am human I am woman I am enough
Will let you all know when the podcast is available.
A really cool backing track - plenty of space and texture without the frequent mid mud build up that comes with stacked RTs. Very, very good lyric - particularly given the time frame you outlined. As always - spot on pitch and harmonies.
Loved my listen! It's airy, free and nicely paced. There is excellent melding of the relatively sparse lyric with the musical bed - each has the space to define itself individually and as well-oiled parts of the whole. Congrats on the song and the podcast!!!
Love the backing tracks for this. Your vocal is very pleasing. I especially like the contrasting sections in the lyrics where they state "I am not..." Nicely done.
I love this song quite a bit, and I think it comes at a really great point in our society. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us, and congrats on the podcast interview!
Very nice work here. The lyric is "anthemic", yet the backing is subdued and minor keyed and the combination seems to say (to me) "Do I really need to explain these things to you again?" That's my listen, anyway.
Very nice song, Joanne. Loved listening to it. In a way the lyrics are simple but give a lot of space to think about the words. And the nicest of all is in the song your voice faded away, but stays in your (my) head.
I know that you've been busy with your channel. Does Youtube allow uploading revisions yet? That was a problem for me, because I always need to change something:)
Gause Zdenek - Thank you for your ongoing support, here and on Facebook.
Hans - I am glad you like the ending. I am busy trying to perfect this on a live performance as well. I will be performing this one at the National Arts Festival in July.
Shigeki Adachi - Thank you! Your comments are appreciated.
Scott - Welcome back. Where have you been? Youtube still doesn't allow changes. You need to delete the video and then re-upload if you want to change something. The obvious disadvantage of this is that you "lose" the previous views. Incidentally, if your channel is monetized you do not lose the earnings on the deleted video.
Misha - Thanks. Yes, I did put this one on my FAWM 2019 thread as a well so you might have heard it there. It is turning out to be my favorite one from FAWM this year.
David - Thank you. Your opinion means a lot to me.
Very nice Joanne!! After reading the title, I was waiting for "Hear me roar".....just kidding! It is a very sweet and beautiful song! Congrats on the podcast. Always great to hear your stuff!! Take care. Greg
