Way To A Woman's Heart

This seems to be my third song this year on this forum with 'woman' in the title. Pure coincidence, but tells where my inspiration has come from lately smile

I have had a vocaloid version of this on soundcloud for couple of years, but now I have finally sung it myself. The original arrangement sounded bit harsh so I had to find a softer but still rocking instruments. I was happy to find the combination of PopPepSquad drums and baritone guitars, BIAB fulfilled my wishes once again smile Unfortunately the baritone guitars don't have nice-sounding holds so I had to use filling guitars for those parts.

RealDrums: PopPepSquad

RealTracks:
Electric bass #995
Baritone guitars #2499, #3164
Electric guitars #632, (hold #996 & #2352)
Electric guitar soloist #1722
Sax Tenor #715
Organ #671

MIDI: guitar riff (ST3)

Vocals by me

Mixed in Cakewalk by Bandlab

Lyrics:

Alone licking all my wounds
trying to figure out
what I did and
what you cried about.
You have faked your pain
I was fooled again
just like a lab mouse in your surveys
been running in your maze.

On the way to a woman's heart
each mile has left a trace
all my clothes are torn
blood stains on my face.
The way to a woman's heart
is way too long
I'm lost at every crossroad
I have always chosen wrong.

Alone fallen one more time
a jungle in the dark
on your trail
there's no signpost to your spark.
Never felt the beat
never tasted sweet
you kept a distance from my glances
you never gave me a chance.

On the way...

I have never reached my destination
frustrated on the path overgrown
always halfway there
not even halfway there.

On the way...

Hey there Jannesan, great work on this! Fantastic selection of instruments here and very soothing to hear. The vocals harmonize well with the other instruments. Great work!

Janne,
interesting tune. For some strange reason, it reminds me of Japanese alternative pop songs, probably because of claps on drums, which I feel was a great decision. Very good arrangement! Guitars and bass work very well on this. But why such a violent way to that special woman's heart ? smile
P.S. I admire your bravery bending rhymes to your needs. Most of my life I lived in US, and still shaping some words and phrases are a great challenge for me. Mental block smile

Janne,

This is really well done. A GREAT pop sound! Great drive to it.

Cool drums. It is great when someone uses a track that hasn't been displayed in the Showcase before...

Nice mix. Enjoyed.

Nicely interesting upbeat catchy toe-tapping pop song...
I like the sound of the guitar picking over the chords on "been running in your maze"...
Pretty neat effect...
I really enjoyed this musical work.

Thanks Misha for your kind feedback smile I agree about the drums, I'm really glad I found that RD while re-arranging this tune.

I received feedback from a guy who said that this song sounds like it's about him and his feelings. So I guess that violent way is quite universal theme wink

I like playing with words also outside lyrical landscapes so it feels natural to me play with words also with my songs. I'm flattered by your admiration smile

This is a really good pop song. The intro and chord progressions are excellent. Your vocal is really good. Your dynamics are excellent making this song very powerful.

Excellent song.

Thanks Floyd, always nice to read your positive feedback smile I'm pretty sure that I have heard those drums used on some showcase song earlier this year. But I wouldn't mind hearing it many more times.

Excellent choice of RD's/RT's for this strong pop tune.

We very much like those drums...as others have already said.

There's a lot of raw emotion on display here...strong vocal delivery.

And the mix sounds excellent on our monitors. Everything sits in a good place!

Enjoyed it...

Janne,

Very nice rock'n' roll song!
A little bit 60's American oldies feel.
Continuous eight beet is really comfortable.
Very enjoyable listen!
I missed the vocaloid version.
I would like to listen to it.

Best regards.

"a jungle in the dark
on your trail

Good lyric!

Enjoyed this eclectic production.

(Shots and holds in BIAB are often troublesome for me too. Usually not smooth.)

Really nice, Janne! Has a bit of "That Thing You Do" feel to it. That's a compliment. Very few songs grabbed my attention, and wouldn't get out of my head like that song did. I have a feeling, your song is going to be stuck there in my mind for a while as well. When you accomplish that, as a songwriter, you've done something!

My goodness. I hope you haven't had such a hard time with women. This was a very enjoyable listen. Lots of power in the rhythm section buoyed it up very well.

Your singing is so full of confidence and it sounds great! In addition, that backing is produced so very, very well. Everything sits beautifully in my speakers and the sound is rich and full of clarity.

All the best,
