Lost Again
© 2019 Kenny Leverett

Someone said
That it all started with a spark
Learn to keep your mind open
And love will find your heart

So here I stand
A lonesome drifter new in town
Watching you stand up all the boys
Just to shoot em down

With a smile
Of good old fashioned innocence
All these knights fall at your feet
And your indifference

And it’s not hard to understand
That I’m blown away
Just like all of them
And though I try to comprehend
When I look into your eyes
I’m lost again

Einstein said
God doesn’t play dice with the universe
A plan for everything
For better or worse

And it’s not hard to understand
That I’m blown away
When you take my hand
And though I try to comprehend
When I look into your eyes
I’m lost again

And it’s not hard to understand
That I’m blown away
Every time you take my hand
And though I try to comprehend
When I look into your eyes
I’m lost again

Kenny,

Terrific lyrics on this one . . . love the falsetto going into and through that chorus . . . really gives the whole tune sincerity and warmth. The instrumental close is just perfect. Very cool tune!

All the best,

Deej

A really cool song -
"...Watching you stand up all the boys
Just to shoot em down..."
Excellent.
A really good, gritty vocal performance but my ears seem to be overdoing it today as I seem to notice quite a few esses etc. These may disappear into the room if I didn't have headphones on - but I do.
fab song.

Outstanding song. The rasp in your vocals gets to me every time, and here your range is really shown off as well. A lyric that's easy to relate to. Great instrumentation and mix. Your lead guitar solo was way beyond "noodly"...I wish I could do that. A great listen.

Kenny,

AWESOME! I absolutely love the toughness and fragility of this song...

Some really great tracks and a very cool guitar break. Excellent mix and the vocal as usual is a real standout.

"With a smile
Of good old fashioned innocence
All these knights fall at your feet
And your indifference"

Does not get better than this...

Texas! Very cool state, my wife and I spent a month there many years ago exploring many of the cool places there.

Excellent song! No surprise there, and as always I love your lyrics and signature vocal sound.

Mix also sounds good. That lead guitar is perfect for the song, at first I thought you were playing it because it fit the song so well. Nice find!

Great stuff, Kenny, enjoyed the listen!

Really well done! It flows gorgeously, and is perfectly catchy. Love the groove and thought you had a strong vocal performance on this - in particular, those harmonies are wicked.

You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing smile

As usual Kenny... You deliver a well-written, well-produced song...
After writing this little gem, you deserve a vacation...
And of course Texas is a great place to be this time of year (just not in the summer) smile...
Good job on this one...
I really enjoyed listening to it!

A wonderful write, a wonderful performance!!! Really powerful, really creative, really touching. Some great lyrics. Love these:

With a smile
Of good old fashioned innocence
All these knights fall at your feet
And your indifference

The harmonies in the chorus are really sweet!

Just a joy to listen to!!!

Have fun in Texas. Take care.

Great lyrics Kenny, superbly delivered, and great tracks to match. The chorus is a corker, a big sing-a-long hook if ever there was. Good stuff all round sir!

I absolutely love this. Melodic and to the point - the two qualities that I love in a song. Your voice communicates the song so well, too ... and the lyrics are wonderful, also. Brilliant job!

Great lyric vocal and production.
I really enjoyed my listen Kenny.
Reminded me of the Eagles.
One of your best. Rob

I agree with Greg. How do you come up with such great lyrics? Love your vocals on this. Your chops on that axe are also fantastic.

Great job on this one.

rsdean (Bob): I love your comments and greatly appreciate them.

BlueAttitude (Dave): Thanks man, appreciate it. Hope your trip to Texas was good

we're avoiding most of the bigger cities, was in San Antone around my old stomping grounds

and even it's changed a lot, way too many people now. Glad you like that lead guitar.

Deryk: Thanks, I always appreciate your listen and comments.

When I grow up I wanna be able to write a love song like this. Just one would do.

You're able to touch the heart so often with your lyrics and emotive, convincing vocals.

And this one delivers all that in spades. And, there's also the easy to take for granted great mix.

Have fun in Texas. Talked to a fellow forum Texan yesterday! Nice folks out thata way.

We love this!

Kenny, a very fine country rock tune with an Eagles "Peaceful Easy Feeling " vibe to it. This one works on every level for me. Great vox (loved the background work). You just keep knocking out good stuff! Thanks, T

Kenny,
Really good lyrics and your unmistakeable vocal a nice contrast to the warmth of the music.
You have hit a vein of good songwriting lately- I`m keeping track; this one is up there and Trashbag Windows takes the cake!

Hi Kenny,

In the distance I hear the Eagles in your chorus.
It's a very nice song and "I'm lost again" when listening to how you composed the song.
Smooth but with a nice drive. The lyrics fit very good in it.

So a nice peace of work again.

I am SO glad that Andrew has implemented the new feature to show threads that you have commented on... because I was surprised that THIS one did not have the little green icon!!! I know I commented on this. I would NEVER miss a Kenny Leverett song!!!

This is as TOP-NOTCH as everything else you are posting these days...I think that string goes back a couple of years now. One incredible song after another...

Excellent write. Superb tracks and mix. Amazing vocals.

I am a HUGE fan. YOU should be famous.

Hi Kenny,

What wonderful writing!!! And equally wonderful presenting!!!

I'm really impressed that you found a way to bring Einstein to the table. Even though he passed away over 60 years ago, his image is just as fresh today as always. It's very rare for a scientist to have such a long visual impact (maybe his hair style had a lot to do with this).

The electro/acoustic folk rock feel of this really captured my imagination and the journey you took me via lyrics and music was very satisfying.

I don't know how I missed this originally but I'm glad I came across it before it moved on too further.

All the best,
Noel

Thanks Noel, appreciate the listen and comments,

I think that you're the first to comment on the Einstein line

heard it in a movie or tv show, made note of it

used it as the spark for this song.

All around terrific sound, hearkens back to the Eagles without being derivative.
