Hi All,
This is called [Link no longer valid]
Watching the day rise
The geese are flying high
The sound of the morning
And the far away cries
But I’m building my day
Piece by piece in your cup
Pouring coffee in the kitchen
And baby that’s what’s up
Running a shower
The heat is sounding rough
The mirror shows a bit of age
And it’s never warm enough
But I’m building my day
Piece by piece in your cup
Pouring coffee in the kitchen
And baby that’s what’s up
Counting on the shadows
The night is lifting off
The dark is just an orphan
And the hours are the cost
But I’m building my day
Piece by piece in your cup
Pouring coffee in the kitchen
And baby that’s what’s up

Good song to start off the day with my morning coffee...
Thanks, I enjoyed listening to your song!
Man, it totally blows me away how prolific you are! Just one great song after another.
Love this one, Bob, well done.
Bob, where do you get so many ideas from!! I wish the muse descended on me a little more!
You have a lovely way of evoking a scene with lyrics and this is no exception, and the backing/choice of instrumentation is just perfect. Thanks for the listen, very enjoyable!
John
An interesting write Bob....very reflective and meditative!! I think you've created the perfect band for this. Vocal hits the spot too! Nicely done!! Take care. Greg
This reminds me of "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face", the Johnny Cash version. Beautiful, haunting, dark and simply wonderful. In its own way, a classic - I've bookmarked it to play it more times. Amazing job - I cannot underscore enough just what an achievement this song is - hats off to you.
Says what it says simply, yet profoundly. A fine morning song...not too chipper, like many of us that early. Very much enjoyed.
I do love coffee! Very cheerful and uplifting lyrics. Thanks for sharing!
Jim,
Thanks - much appreciated.
Bob
Coffee, nectar of the gods.
Cool tune, and nice track selection.
Bob you have such a great way with metaphors. Always love your lyrics especially "The mirror shows a bit of age". Another good song as usual.

Hi Bob,
I agree with Greg. You've got everything -- vocals, band, lyrics, melody, arrangement -- working together with terrific synergy.
A wonderful listen.
All the best,
Noel
Wow, I really want some coffee now.
Haha, thanks for sharing.
Reflections of the day. Enjoyed the lone guitar in the beginning.
Really well done Bob. Rob

Bob

Your backing tracks really fit your mood and your vocals. All i can say is WOW!
This is really good!

John,
Thanks so much for the kind words - very appreciated.
Bob
Hey, I've got a coffee song too. Rather universal I suppose. I'm sipping some now.
Enjoyed this, Bob. You described the morning ritual well. I like how you added elements as the song progresses or wakes up, if you will. Good RT choices. Everything fits.
Greg,
Thanks so much - I appreciate the kind words.
Bob
Always look forward to your poetry. Nice.
That's very kind of you to say... I appreciate the listen and kind words.
Bob
Well, Bob, you did it again! You always find creative ways to express things. Once again, you inspire me to write better lyrics.
I guess we need to bestow upon you the title of Poet Laureate for the PGMusic domain!
Thanks for doing what you do.
Steve
Tangmo,
Thanks very much.
Bob
Nicely done! A very uplifting tune for sure. Love the progressions and thought your vocals fit perfectly with the lush instrumental. Definitely getting a 90's vibe from this one. Very summery and nice and easy on the ears.
Great work and thanks for sharing
Joe,
Much appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Bob,
Another terrific song and write. You are turning out some mighty, mighty fine stuff lately. Killer guitars on this one; and impressive production as always. Loved it!
Kind regards,
Deej
Herb,
Very appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Enjoying the morning joe at the moment, and man what a treat to go with it.
"But I'm building my day" and your song also has a great build!
That lyric is tremendous...just the perfect amount of meat on the bone to let the listener add the rest. Who couldn't relate to the message?
This is what Americana is all about and fitting to be on any playlist of that genre. And a fine addition to our personal playlist I might add.
Outstanding!
J&B
Noel,
That is very appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Bob, love the way you started this one off, just the guitar and vocal really setting the mood for the tune. You always manage to get so much done in a short song. That's the mark of someone who knows how to creat good stuff! Great vocal and song! Thanks, T.
Your band is always playing in your enjoyable style, great vocals once again. You are building up your song nicely, the story really grows all the time, although I'd like to hear how the day progressed later on, surely not pouring coffee all day
Janne
