Mornings, I sit here and I think of you
Mornings, I think things through
Mornings, I wonder if it was all true
Mornings, each day without you
Mornings, I sit just like we used to do
Once a day I feel bad
Once a day I get sad
Once a day I recall
Once a day but not all

Mornings, I sit here and I think of you
Mornings, I can’t get through
Mornings, I stand at the top of the stair
Mornings, I see you’re not there
Mornings, I drink coffee brushing my hair
Once a week I feel bad
Once a week I get sad
Once a week I recall
Once a week but not all

Mornings I sat here just biding my time
Mornings I planned my crime
Mornings, I stood at the top of the stair
Mornings, I push you from there
Mornings, I drink coffee brushing my hair
Once a month I feel bad
Once a month I get sad
Once a month I recall
Once a month but not all

Mornings, I drink coffee brushing my hair

Hi Christian, Ray and Jun!

What a terrific listen. I love the angst in Jun's voice as she sings. It's a perfect fit with Christian's music and Ray's lyrics.

I totally enjoyed this.

Regards,
Noel

Lost love song turns into true-crime story. Very dark and pleasant backing. Extra nice production with the use of so many real-tracks. Very emotive singing. I might have preferred this at a faster tempo, but this tempo allows more room for the angstyness, I reckon. Much enjoyed.

Excellent work Christian,
Writing the lyric to the melody was really was easy as the tone and tempo set the vibe very well. All I had to do was type and then find some internal consistency it what i had typed. I'm sorry I held up the process though it matters not as you've achieved a great result.
What a tune! I thoroughly enjoyed this one - very moody, and actually quite catchy despite the menacing nature of the tune. Jun's voice on this is really outstanding, and for me took it to the next level. Though honestly, those backing tracks also wrap it up. I dunno - I just like it all!

Wouldn't change a thing - you guys should be proud. Thanks for sharing smile

Good story & collaboration...
Kudos to all of you!
Hey Chris37, what a marvelous song I might say! I found this very easy to listen and I really dug the chord progression. Very captivating lyrics. Looking forward to hear more!

Thanks for your comments,
In this song, I like particularly the harmony between the voice, the lyrics and the music. Christian

Powerful singing, I like how the dry mix works with the dry murder ballad lyrics - I can imagine this be played in a European art movie.

Thanks Janne,
I'm glad you appreciate this song. Christian

What a superb track! Well done Christian, Ray and Jun for a super-slinky cool tune with a marvellous lyric, let alone the terrific instrumentation. Jun's voice is utterly beguiling!

Edit: I've just listened to this track a couple more times - it really is hypnotic! Personal preference: a teeny-weeny bit of room reverb on the vocal would be icing on the cake.

Cheers
John

Thanks John,
I took your advice and I've added some reverb on June's voice. Christian

Sounds perfect! The singer now sounds in the same space as the band.
I now get to listen to it a couple more times... wink

Great singing. Loved the break. Well mixed.

I've read that with a good song, each verse adds information so that although the chorus remains the same, it takes on a new meaning.

We have a grand winner here.

Well played, sir. Well played! smirk

Nice !! could see this as part of a theatre production kind of gothic style.

The vocals really fit to the drawn out melodic sound you have achieved.

So puts me in mind of something, damned if I can put my finger on it.

Well done

Thanks

Christian, Ray, Jun,
excellent collaboration! Nicely arranged. Ray's lyrics worked very well! Vocals are fantastic! I wish they would be more upfront, but just an opinion.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha!

Thank you, Misha, for your comment. Christian
That was fascinating and cinematic. It would be a fine composition for the right movie.

Everybody did a great job on their part. And we enjoyed the results!

Thanks, Christian, for allowing me to restore some of the the timing of the original melody to the song.
Your piano melody was so ingrained in my head I couldn't let it go.
fabulous arrangement, writing and mixing by you and what a great voice Jun has.
This slight reworking is more as I had imagined it would be.

Hi Christian and Ray,

When listening to the song I didn't noticed it was from 2019.
When scrolling through the posts I saw it was. Till the last two posts. So now I'm listening to the remixed version!
It is certainly brighter than the first one. Only in the beginning I think a bit too much reverb was used. But whatever, it's a very nice but also peculiar song. But all in a very nice way.

The lyrics in the first place. Like them. All verses are the same but the interval differs; daily, weekly, mothly. Very nice.
The way this song was sang secondly. Strange but very fascinating.
And thirdly the band, or other instruments. Very slow and in a sense 'announcing' a threatening situation.

By the way: I didn't know that 'angst' was an English word. It's also used in Dutch and means the same.

I enjoyed listening,
Hans

The word has only been considered "English" since the 1940s. It was borrowed from German via Freud usually but eventually adopted.
Thanks for your kind words. I reverb was baked onto the original vocal, by the singer I think.

This is so good at so many levels! Super vocal, great lyrics, all in the perfect mix.

You all should be very proud of this one!
