Hi all. Here is my latest effort.
Its a little sombre but you may like it.

All comments welcome. Rob

Six Feet In The Grave

They'll build me a prison with bars on the windows.
To keep me from loving you.

As I hang from the gallows the last breath inside me
will linger away on the breeze.

Deep down in a canyon with no warming sunshine.
With no one to tend to my needs.

If my life was longer I'd not be so sombre.
Please send me the key to be free.

Bridge

As I lay in the cold dirt there's no need for comfort.
No memories to ponder each day.

In time you'll forget me a long lost tragedy
As I lay six feet beneath clay

Deep down in a canyon with no warming sunshine.
With no one to tend to my needs.

If my life was longer I'd not be so sombre.
Please send me the key to be free.

As I lay six feet beneath clay x 3

That is one sad folk-country-western song. Love the 3/4 and the band. Your vocal is just great. Much enjoyed.
Hi Rob, fantastic choice of instrumentation on this. The arrangement is wonderful to the ears and very soothing to hear. Good use of EFX on the guitar. The vocals harmonize well with the other instruments. Great work!
Rob,

A classic "gallows" song.

Well sung. Good BAND. Good mix.

Nicely done...
The printed lyrics threw me off a few times but was only a minor problem...
I enjoyed new song.
Rob,

Sounds Johnny Cash worthy to me! Loved it...

Bob
Rob,

I like the way you sing this - deep & dark like the lyrics. If there`a "gallows song" genre yours goes to the top!
Very good.

Robert
What a tune! Love the old school vibes on this, and your vocals and the lyricism behind them are heavy and heartfelt. Easy to sway to, and nicely catchy as well.

Great work and thanks for sharing smile
Really well assembled backing and a perfect chord progression for the terrific narrative.
Your voice sounds great.
Could've been a reflective Nick Cave.
Ousted is nice

you've made it sound great, super vocals

nice write of this tale of woe

enjoyed the listen,

Kenny

Thanks for listening Bob.
Hi Rob,

A good song, and I like the doubles in the chorusses. I am still learning on that issue.
The subject is indeed a bit sombre, but what could you expect with a title like this...
But it also applies to a situation I'm in now. So I'm convinced you must have sensed that ;-).

Nice weekend,
Hans

smile Thank you Rob.
A real beauty Robb. Marty Robbins would've been proud to sing this one as it's his style of song in my opinion. Great lyrics and lovely vocals too

Thank you Deryk.
Great song with equally good vocals Rob! Good job on those background vocals! The guitar choices were excellent! Thanks, Torrey
Yes, I would say that this is at least "a little somber"! Very well done...great prosody and a wonderful vocal (as usual)!! Really nice job on this Rob!! Take care. Greg

I agree, this is a Marty Robbins type tale of woe!

Super backing tracks, mix, outstanding lyrics and one very power vocal.

You should be very proud of this one.

Robert said it all. Reminded us thematically of The Long Black Veil.

Well done!

Thank you for the great comment Hans.
Rob,

What a great opening line—and excellent lyric overall. Terrific touches on the production—nicely layered. And the vocal just fits—great job on the harmonies. Liked this one a lot.

My best to you,

Deej
This kind of music takes me back in time to when I was a kid, hearing "classic" country music on AM radio.

Nicely done!

Thanks for listening Graham.
Rob,
you have a special relation with darker flavor tunes. This is a very poetic piece. Well performed and put together! Enjoyed it.

Thank you for sharing!

Misha.
I like the dark mood of the lyrics and your deep voice supports it excellently. Nice melancholy chording. Arrangement and mix are great, I like especially the nylon guitar, it could have been used bit more.

Janne
Hi Rob,

I enjoyed listening. The writing, presentation and final production are excellent.

My favourite lines were...

"In time you'll forget me a long lost tragedy
As I lay six feet beneath clay"

The rhyme between 'forget me' and 'tragedy' is very fresh and my ears loved hearing it and image of lying 6' beneath clay was very vivid!

Terrific work!
