This one has been in the making for a few weeks... It's a co-write between Herb Hartley and David Snyder. Another collab we've completed. A big THANK YOU to Dave for his inspiration, point of view and words, that helped to take this in a slightly different direction with his contribution to the writing on the chorus and verses when I couldn't see the forest for the trees being in the way.

Lyrics by Hartley & Snyder
Well she walked through the door on a Friday night Feeling so good, and looking so right
I've seldom seen a girl like that, man she's such a sight
She's trying to hold to something, that's been a long time gone
Trying now to capture it from the magic of a song
There's a lot of years and a lot of tears passed under that old bridge
There's a boy she knew, from another time, Back on Lost Love Ridge
The clock, turns so slowly, but the years flew by so fast
Trying to find someone to love, but it never seemed to last
Fade to Grey, Fade To Grey
Same thing tomorrow, just like yesterday
It's only life and it just gets in the way
You live and learn, the world just turns then it slowly fades to grey
solo
Write just one more line, about lost time as you watch the setting sun
This crazy life keeps rolling on, with so much left undone
Reaching out for someone who was there for you before
But your hand still comes up empty as you close and lock that door Production in Sonar X1.
Thoughts and comments are welcome. Hope you enjoy this song.
Excellent! Great groove and writing (chorus is a nice hook, something that will stick after the song is over)
Also really liked your vocals and guitar work. Solo was fun, especially when you brought in the harmony guitar.
Mix sounds great through both the 'phones and the monitors.
Nice collaboration and a very good song, enjoyed!
Herb,
Great job man. The mix on this is tremendous. Exceptional sound and playing, mastered to perfection.
Very strong Eagles vibe.
It was fun to be a part of this!!
Great collaboration! Very thrilled to see how this all came together nicely. Well done!
Good write & collaboration...
Great guitar work...
Vivid lyrics... I especially like the lines...
Reaching out for someone who was there for you before
But your hand still comes up empty as you close and lock that door
Deftly written!
Cool song!!! So much to like here! Love the arrangement/production! I just watched Echo in the Canyon (about Laurel Canyon in the 60's) and I really hear some Byrds influence in this. Some cool lyrics. Loved these:

Thanks... yeah, this mix was actually done 98% on my cheap Yamaha cans. I listened on the monitors at the very end. Indeed, this was a fun project. Thanks for the comments.

You know.... the best compliment one can give, I think, to a writer, is to pick out a specific line in the words to say "man, I really like what you said here".... Thank you.
I agree with Jim. Those are stand-out lines in an outstanding song. I really enjoyed listening to this. It just bounced on into my soul. Still "playing" in my head as I type. Vocals and guitars are beautiful. Well-built production too.
Man, this is good! Love the guitar work, excellent! Lyrics are very well thought out and expressed. Vocals are great, and love the background vocals.
Great collab! Nothing not to like here.

Eaglesesque indeed.
Nicely packaged.
Well done.
Wow - you guys did some really good work on this! A really well thought out tune, both lyrically and instrumentally. It really packs a punch, and that chorus is delightfully catchy as well.
A solid write all the way around - you guys should be proud! Thanks for sharing
Very nice song! I enjoyed listening. Thanks for sharing.
I don't know if you want to publish it, but it is probably produced a bit to loud (volume wise) for places like Spotify and YouTube.

Greg.... Chris Hillman....from the Byrds and also the Desert Rose band. Yep... there is a major influence in there from those bands....
I see you picked up on a line from the song as well... so glad you liked this song. Thanks for listening.

Misha, Scott, Tangmo, and Steve.... thanks guys for the kind words and we're so glad people are liking this song and finding all sorts of gems in it that grab them and keep them interested. This was a labor of love for both David and myself as we worked on this and debated the details.... what to leave in and what to leave out, as Bob Seger said in one of his tunes. Thanks for listening and taking the time to express your comments to us.
Herb / David,
This is an awesome song... Your best collaboration as far as I am concerned.
Outstanding arrangement and vocals. Loved it!
Bob
great mix
nice guitars!
good vocals
you mentioned Chris Hillman to Greg, I can certainly hear that,
reminds me a lot of him.
good write,
Kenny
This is a pro song, all the way. It's hard to pick any particular part out (although the guitar solos were standout) because all of it's at the level of excellence - writing, production, singing and playing.
Herb and David, this is a great sounding country rock tune! Great job on the vocals! You can't go wrong when David has input on a song (speaking from experience) ! Loved that twin lead solo! Thanks, Torrey

Yeah... thanks for listening.... Here recently there have been a number of Eagles concert videos on the tube... and my wife and I both love the Eagles... so this song got a bit of influence from those guys. We sure enjoyed working on this and David really didn't have much of an idea as to what the final version would sound like as we were working on it together.
Thank you all for listening and commenting. Dave and I appreciate the kind words.
as Bob Seger said in one of his tunes. Thanks for listening and taking the time to express your comments to us.
Firstly.. with a sound like this well your bound to get the attention of us folk.
Secondly... Eagles !!How right can someone be, Big Eagles fan I could honestly hear/see the Eagles doing this.
Music, lyrics and singers , beat, mix, production, writers (both) this is brilliant up beat what I call rock/country, Have I just made a new genre of music nope I aint.
YOU GUYS HAVE DONE THAT ENJOYED THIS !!.
Hey you two, dunno if y'all were intentionally shooting for that Byrds/Eagles/Pederson/Hillman sound or not but it is certainly there.
And in our book that's a good thing!
"The clock, turns so slowly, but the years flew by so fast
Trying to find someone to love, but it never seemed to last"
I like that juxtaposing how at the moment things can seem so slow but in retrospect it flew by quickly.
Nice production, guitar/vocal performance and band. Guitar solo gave us a bit of a Don Felder feel contributing even more to the Laurel Canyon feel.
Good one for sure!

Great, enjoyed it, pro sounding all the way!
Yes, definitely has an early Eagles feel to it. Sometimes hard to believe that was almost 50 years ago.

It's great to see and hear all the comments coming in on this song. Thanks for listening.
I apologize for such a short reply with so many responses in one post. I might be gone for a few days and wanted to get everyone in and responded to before I leave. Just found out my sister is in the ICU and is unconscious. They have her in an induced coma after being admitted and attempts to wake her this morning failed 2x. She passed out a few days ago after calling 911 and was not breathing when medics arrived. How long she was with O2 is the question no one knows. Keep us in your prayers and I'll see you soon.
Our thoughts are with you and your entire family.
So Sorry to hear this, Thoughts and well wishes as Floyd posted.
Take care.
Hi guys,
a very nice collab - catchy melody, greatly arranged, sung and produced. Enjoyed the listen a lot.
Cheers,
Stefan
