LEAVING DALLAS IN THE FADING LIGHT
WITH A BRACE UPON THIS LEG
HEADED SOUTH FOR AN 8 SECOND RIDE
AND A CHANCE TO BEGIN AGAIN

BUT THIS BODYS TORN AND TIRED NOW
AINT NO STAR OF THIS RODEO
MAYBE ITS TIME TO JUST SETTLE ON DOWN
MAYBE TIME TO JUST LET GO

ONE MORE RIDE BEFORE THE ROPE IT SPLITS
AND PULLS THIS OLD MAN DOWN
ONE MORE GATE BEFORE I QUIT
AND LEAVE THE RODEO I FOUND
IM SAYING GOODBYE TO EVERYTHING
GOODNIGHT SWEET RODEO KING

I FOUND THIS DRINKING HOLE OUT OF THE WAY
I SHUFFLE BACK AND FORTH ALL NIGHT LONG
TELL THEM STORYS ABOUT THE RODEO KING
AND SERVE THEM ALL FROM DUSK TILL DAWN

TIME HAS FINALLY CAUGHT UP WITH ME
MY LEATERED HANDS ACHE WITH THE COLD
NO MORE AM I THE RODEO KING
IM JUST A TIRED AND LOST AND LONELY SOUL

NO MORE RIDES NOW THE ROPE HAS SPLIT
NOW THIS OLE MAN HAS GONE DOWN
NO MORE GATES NOW THAT IVE QUIT
THE GREATEST LOVE I HAD FOUND

IVE SAID GOODBYE TO EVERYTHING
GOODNIGHT SWEET RODEO KING

I love a rodeo song. I've written a few cowboy/rodeo songs in my time.... It's a hard life on the rodeo circuit.

One of my favorite rodeo singers was Moe Bandy.... if you're not familiar with him, look him up on YouTube.

Nice mellow song.

Very pretty tune Brad

You're good at this stuff. I think you could do a little cut slide etc. with the harmony vocal on the 5th line but, otherwise, it's a cool thing.

Another good one Brad...
I may be wrong...
But your lyrics & lead vocal are so intimate & strong on this number,
That I believe they would do well without the background harmonies.
Still I enjoyed listening to your rodeo song...
And I agree with Herb...
Your song brought memories of Moe Bandy's rodeo songs.

I like this one a lot - the melancholy lyrics, your vocals, the instruments. Good stuff.

But... there's a glitch at the start of a lot of all your phrases. For example, at 0:30 on "with", 0:53 on "ain't", 0:59 on "maybe", 1:04 "or", 1:27 on "and", etc.

I suspect that you've edited vocal takes together, and because you've cut the "fade in" of the vocal, the vocal volume goes from zero to instantly "on". Or perhaps you're doing punch-ins that start a bit late, so they lose the natural fade in.

In any event, you're probably got an option in your DAW to add a small fade in on the vocal that'll get rid of that problem.

None of which is to diminish the song. You do country really well, and I always enjoy listening to your songs.

Nice work smile Loved the flow of the song and thought your vocals were seriously on point. A good write overall - strong progressions and I like how it swings upwards for the chorus. It's nicely catchy without sounding overbearing.

Thanks for sharing!

Very sweet song!! Love the vibe and melody...catchy and pretty. Some really nice lyrics, and vocal is excellent. Like the pedal steel vibe too. Really like this!! Take care. Greg

Thanks for all the feedback appreciate the time taken to listen and respond. David it was a straight one take as most of my vocals are, think the problem you hear maybe me trying to edit out , the vocal breaths . Anyway thank you for the feedback
Cheers brad
