Hi all,
Here's a french song.
Patrick Fournerat has written lyrics and he sings.

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/je-suis-la-terre

Here's an approximate translation :

I am the Earth
and humans make me despair.
For too long
I undergo their behavior.
I gave everything generously
but they took the whole place blindly.

They proliferate
and for that, I am angry.
No more abundance,
they will pay their arrogance.
They will suffer like me now.
They will have to give way to the elements.

I am bitter
in my little corner of Universe.
Ladies and gentlemen,
must I say goodbye?
Breathless, I let myself go.
You will count my remaining time
in number of years.

Hi Christian,

Nice composition that suits the quite dark lyrics very well. I enjoyed listening and I especially like the cello you introduce late!

Very well done!

Christian,

The melodies and lyrics are traditional and authentic chansons, which I love very much.
Patrick's singing follows the traditional way of chanson singing.
This tune is one of my favorite songs in your works.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Christian,

Beautiful arrangement hereā€”not a huge jazz fan, but this is very engaging, complimented by a fantastic vocal. Love the subtlety of the strings in this one. Great job on this!

All the best,

Deej

Here's hoping the Earth's message is not set in stone. But she will have her way in the end. Warm vocals and a pure and unencumbered backing. I kept waiting for the cello and was not disappointed. Nice flow and build. Much "enjoyed", though "enjoyment" seems considerably a lame response to this song.
Nicely done! I enjoy the chilled out vibes on this one, and appreciated the lyrics translation. It flows smooth as butter, and has a really cozy and warm quality to it. Very nicely textured, and some excellent progressions on this one.

Thanks for sharing smile

Very emotional tune, excellent interpretation by the vocalist. The band fits perfectly the lyrical message. I'm sure that the translation reveals only a small part of the strong imagery, I like the animistic approach.

Liked everything about it, nothing more to say when it all fits so nice like this.

Thank you all for your comments.
Yes, Janne, I think Patrick's idea to choose an animistic approach was a good idea. Christian

Very nicely done!! Great soundstage in the mix, and the singer sounds wonderful! Everything works!! BTW, do you what kind of signal paths were used in the vocal recording/mixing? Sounds great!! Take care. Greg

Fantastic.
If I had to pick a nit it would be the #D nature of the effects on the vocal - they almost place the singer in a different room but not quite.

Beautiful song. The breaks/solos between the vocals were just the right length of time. Loved Patrick's vocal timbre.

This outstanding. The soundstage was terrific on our monitors.

The vocalist really delivers the melody and lyric well and you
assembled an excellent small tight jazz band.

And, yes, aren't we ridiculously arrogant? Yet Mother Nature tolerates us...at least for a while.

Well done!!!
