Here's another song from the recording session with Danny. Another original written by him and sung by him. This one is a bit higher in his vocal range.

Song is called

LET IT GO

or on Box.... https://app.box.com/s/49a8lx9yeeq0myvom04vy7yb3asaa1tg

Band is:

Daniel Jackson vocals

Herb guitars

Piano 1264
Steel 1670
Clean guitar 1852 ( because I was lazy )
Bass 1255
Drums Praise & Worship shine

This was the second of 3 songs we worked on in the several days Danny was here visiting at the farm. Feel free to share your thoughts and comments with us. I'm probably not going to be replying to each and every post, but know that both Danny and I are watching and reading the posts. I'll reply and try to answer any questions you have or address particular points as needed. Know that we both appreciate the time you take to listen and to respond with comments.

edit: I had a number of guitars in this but decided to pull them mall out save for one track and the lead part track. I was starting to get a "wall of guitar" sound that was detracting from the quality of the song.

Thanks from us both.
Herb/Daniel,

A good balance on this one across the instruments. The vocal is at a good level - the lower parts have a nice "richness" (a couple of the higher parts could use a bit more warmth).

A "personal opinion" here - ignore if you choose. The trade-off between the steel and the guitar during the solo doesn't work (Like I said, my opinion...). Two reasons. The muddy/fuzzy guitar and the crisp steel clash, they don't compliment each other, sound-wise. And some parts sound "manufactured"...not a smooth flow between two players trading off. It just doesn't sound "natural". (to me).

The steel works nicely when it is in the background. The overall BAND choices are good. Drums sound good.
Hi Herb,

Danny has a great voice in the register too! You've showcased his vocals really well. The thing that grabbed me as I sat listening was just how good this sounded... full of confidence and competence all the way. In my headphones right now, at 2:50, the music is really sizzling! Very entertaining.

Regards,
Noel
Floyd: thanks for listening and commenting. I appreciate your points.

Noel: Yep... I agree. This was the second or third day of recording and DJ was getting used to the studio and observing a few things he was learning and employing them. Studio is a different game from the stage. Thanks
This sounds exciting and exhilarating the way things were done before digital recording etc.

You can hear the familiarity in you guys getting it together, loved the raw sound.

Just made me pick up my guitar.....And that's what I did.

Thanks
I liked this a lot, exponentially more so than the Evil World Track. Sounded like the real stuff.
Your guitar playing makes this happen.
The vocal seems a little strident, loud and caused some reverb detonation in spots.
Cool performance by the band and a a really good chord progression.
I really enjoy the higher vocal range. Thanks for sharing!
Herb&Daniel, nice driving country rocker. Well sung, written and arranged. Herb, maybe the solo would have worked better if you split it the traditional way instead of trading lines. The production sounds great as usual. You guys must have had some great bands, Tom
Beatmaster: cool... if you picked up a guitar and jammed along.... what more could we ask?

Tunemonger: glad you liked it..... stay tuned.... there one more in the works.

Rayc: thanks for the listen and the comments.

Ember: I tend to agree with this

Tommyad: Hindsight is always 20/20 isn't it? I might have done something different with the solo but.....

We had some fun back in the day, playing music together, that's for sure. One of our bands, and the last one we played in together, was literally only 3 months old when we entered a Battle of the Bands with 30 other regional bands. One of them knew us and no kidding, they asked us if we had come to listen to them, then laughed right at us when we said "no, we're here to play". They didn't make the final 6 bands. We did. At the finals, we ended up winning first place and the money. We ended up playing close to 2 years together and went into clubs that were booking radio stars and didn't book any band with under 5 pieces. We were a 3 piece band. Our stage show and presence really set us apart from everyone else in our circuit.
Cool tune. Excellent vocal and lyric. Guitar sounds great.

This sounds great Herb! You can Danny did a good job.

Glad you had so much fun down at the farm!
It's gotta be good to have an old friend visit...
But extra special when song collaborations
happen.

Well done you two!

J&B
Another good collaboration between you & Danny...
I enjoyed listening to this rocker...
You two are going to have to get together more often!
Very nice song, like it a lot. Nice jobs on the vocals and the guitars.

heers,

Stefan
