Hi all,
For this french song, Patrick Fournerat sings and whistles. the lyrics have been written by him.

Here's an approximate translation :

I will come back to Montreal
In Charlebois’s country
And climb on Mount Royal
The feeling of returning home

I had fantastic friends
Loving life and music

It was really cosmopolitan
Tolerant and friendly

I listened to Beau Dommage
Félix Leclerc and Gilles Vigneault
And inherited Harmonium
The song found its cradle

Thank you my fantastic friends
Long live life and music

Christian & Patrick,

A very nice song. Good tracks, nice vocal. Good mix.

"It was really cosmopolitan
Tolerant and friendly"

True... I lived in Montreal for a couple of years...

Enjoyed the journey back...

Nicely done - it flows delightfully well, and the mix is really nice as Floyd said. It's nice to see Canada get some love here in the forums too - never been myself, but Montreal's been on my to-go-to list for a while now.

Thanks for sharing smile

Loved the organ and brushes, worked well with the whole mix.

I enjoyed the vocals and lyric story as well.

Nice job!

Chris/Patrick,
I don't speak French but I could listen to it being spoken or, even better, sung all day. I love the vocals on this (thanks also for the translation).
Somehow this lovely French Canadian song works perfectly with the bossa nova treatment. The organ is a nice touch too.
But one of the stars of this piece is Patrick's whistling.

BIAB wishlist: what about a whistling RealTrack???

This songs moves along very smoothly. I like it very much. Any chance I could include it in my next Bastille Day concert? Any chance I could see the original lyrics?

The song has a really lovely flow to it. I've never had the opportunity to go to Montreal when I lived closer to Quebec, but hope to still get the chance to some day!

Thanks for sharing.

Christian,

Cool jazzy number . . . I’m not typically a fan of jazz, but this is wonderfully executed. And again you’ve picked a great vocalist (and whistler) for this one. Nice work!

Deej

Hi Christian,

there are some folks here on the forum about which I have my doubts that they ever sleep or eat - you're definitely one of them as you're coming up with so many songs.

This one's another nice tune, very well (!) arraged and appealingly sung by Patrick. Another good job, Christan.

Take care,

Stefan

Here are the french lyrics :

Je reviendrai à Montréal
Au pays de Charlebois
Et grimper sur le Mont Royal
L’impression de rentrer chez moi

J’avais des amis fantastiques
Aimant la vie et la musique

C’était vraiment cosmopolite
Tolérant et sympathique

Moi qui écoutais Beau Dommage
Félix Leclerc et Gilles Vigneault
Et Harmonium en héritage
La chanson trouvait son berceau

Merci mes amis fantastiques
Vive la vie et la musique
