I used EZDrummer2 for the drums and percussion
I'm playing the intro guitar part and the leads, and Chris is playing one of the piano parts
Production notes:
I used a combination of "/" chords and melodyne to get the bass player to play the notes I wanted for the main theme.

One of a billion stars (2019, Christiane Spruit)
One day , one night Strangers are passing by Taking my backpack and leave, following the street lights shine on brightly , from a star that already died but his light still shines on, to navigate us home by night
Time after Time how amazing it can be one of a billion galaxies me and my feet tied to the ground in gravity
how near or far no matter who we are we are the one of a billion stars
shine in the dark no matter where we are we are the one of a billion stars
That opening BLEW ME AWAY! It is SO MUSICAL. Goosebumps-good. I played it 3 times before moving on... Every part is cool. Rhythm guitar, lead guitar, BASS!! (Sweet!) Drums, Organ... Gorgeous...
Chris has out-done herself on this. Solid Rock ballad write. Exquisite vocal. Soulful.
Another beautiful solo.
Gorgeous mix.
This is up there. Gotta say it - "My new favorite!"
Wow - what a tune! The intro on this is amazing and sets it up perfectly. As Peter and Floyd said above - the vocals on this are phenomenal and the playing soars. It packs a punch and really makes for a captivating listen.
You should be proud of this one - thanks for sharing
What a BIG beautiful sound Dave and Chris! That intro and solo parts are over the top good!! Chris's vocal is perfect again! It's a wonderful song with a backtrack that suits the imagery in the lyrics extremely well! I loved everything about it! Thanks, Torrey
The intro & the line Time after time: they're the tingle bits but it's a terrific song over all. Dave, you've excellent fingers & tone, while Chris' voice is in the zone for this one.
Professional job on this one - and that's intended as a massive compliment. Congratulations - an excellent, clinical effort - you hit this one out of the park.
yes, different, but as good as the other songs you published so far.
The intro is a killer, no doubt about that! Melodically and harmonically a very, very pleasant composition, and Chris, you're a fabulous singer !!!
You really keep indulging us with sheer ear candy!
All the best,
Stefan
PS: Almost forgot to mention the video: I LOVE those 'starry nights' vids a lot (used them myself in some videos) - they fit the song perfectly. So it's eye-candy, too !

I thought you would like the intro! I've had that for a while, at least a year. Took me a while to figure out where to take the song after that, but once I did the rest of the song came together pretty quickly.

Wowser Loved your intro. Was very cool how you panned the guitars. The separation allows them to blend but be so distinct. The strat solo was very cool. Super clean and pick attack really was very cool. Chris’s vocal was awesome. A real professional level production
Dave & Chris, When you put a little space (Lyrically and musically) into your bluesy rock you enter a new zone for me- definitely the best I`ve heard from you! Amazing intro and with Chris finding an almost ethereal tone at times- marvelous music (and a cool video).

Thanks for the listen and comments, Derek, I appreciate it
My, my . . . what an impressive, magnetic opening, and it goes on from there as rich and engaging from that first note to the last . . . beautiful, flawless production. Your lead singer nails it. Among the best things I’ve heard on this site . . . rivals any professional production an artist could ask for. I am in awe! Do they have an emoji with a gaping mouth, jaw on the floor?
Great intro as others have said. One of your best, and I like that lyrically you kept some mystery to the meaning of a billion stars and didn't go in a particular direction. Enhanced everything you did musically.
This is indeed somewhat different from what I heard from you. But there is certainly nothing wrong with that, when listening to it. It's the mood of the song that's so catchy (to me). Really a song I like listening to, sipping from a glas of wine near a fireplace. And the vocals of Chris completes that picture. Only, like TuneMonger is refering too, I must have missed why the song is called 'a billion stars'. I only heard two; Chris and you.
What is not to love about this? The opening is killer. It's the kind of thing that instantly brands the song. Very nice work on the bass-line as well, melodic and thematic. Chris' vocal and the mixing thereof is spacious and clear. The band is solid and present. Your leads are, as per usual, tasty and emotive. Top-notch musicality from the both of you.
Not really that different, a classic blues ballad in your recognizable style. Lovely intro, enjoyable minor chording with some intriguing melodic elements. I really like the imagery in the lyrics, beautiful awe of the universe and (positive) melancholy in the smallness of a man. Guitars are once again very atmospheric and Chris's vocals never fail to amaze. So many top quality songs on this forum lately and this is one of the best.
Chris has a real talent obviously vocally but also for packing so much into relatively sparse lyrics. She says it all w/o overstating the theme with a lot of redundancy. And her phrasing makes it all even sweeter. Makes you want to come back again...
Your guitar is sublime...Janice commented during your solo on the video about how the water seemed to be moving with your notes.
Pro level production all the way. Everything, and I don't say this lightly, sounds wonderful on the KRK's. Rich and velvety as Janice said.

Hey Torrey, happy you liked this!
I got the idea for the harmony lead during the intro from one of your recent songs BTW

I love this. I love the whole feel of this song. It's one of my favorites that you have posted. As others have stated, the intro is magnificent: It's one of those musical pieces that one can listen to over and over, let oneself be immersed in it, and never grow tired of it. The vocals could not be done any better.
The music is kinda Santana (early) but the overall production with Chris's vocals reminds me of a famous song from the 70s but I can't place it. It is driving me crazy!
Love that intro. Your guitar work, as always, is impeccable. The sound you get and the notes you play always sound so fresh and original. Chris's vocal as usual is spot on. Her understated style fits the song perfectly. The quality of your production is something I aspire to. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, Mike

Hey Scott,
Thanks for mentioning that pan! I tried a few different approaches before I settled on doing it that way.

One of the nicest reviews we have ever received! Thanks very much

I liked the write on this one too, different than anything we have done before.

I really appreciate you stopping by, I know internet is a problem for you at the moment.
Wonderful vibe to this!! Sort of has that Low Spark of High Heeled Boys fused with Santana feel! The groove is infectious! Great vocals and guitar, of course!! Love it guys!! Take care. Greg

Over the top of that bar y'all keep raising.
J&B
Thanks very much Janice and Bud! I always enjoy reading your comments, and so does Chris
Dave, this song is VIBE brother! It's just sooooo cool. I may be way off with this; but to me, this almost seems like it could be a Sade song. Smoooooth.
I would mention all of the typical things; but am I allowed to just say I have all of those bases more than covered?
With each new song that you two do, the bar just gets higher and higher and higher! The guitar work and the production sizzle and Chris's writing and singing is nothing short of 'top notch and then some'.
You have really settled into your respective strengths and compliment one another so very, very well.
For me, the presentation of this song is like teamwork on steroids! Everything, absolutely everything is exactly right!

Well, maybe I will remember.
Anyway, this is awesome!!
Hey David, great to see you!
It's been *way* too long since you have posted a song, you have been missed around here.

Guitar tone and production are two things I spend a lot of time on, so I appreciate those comments

We have a blast working together, no doubt about that, and at the end of the day that's what matters.
Thanks, Noel!
