Hi all,
Patrick Fournerat has written the lyrics and he sings.

https://soundcloud.com/christian-devienne/ca-l-fait-pas

Here's an approximate translation :

Don’t think it’s nice for me
To see you by my side
I think I'll run away
Stop sticking me like this
I have nothing against you but it doesn’t work
I have nothing to do with you
Don't try to find out why
Some things cannot be explained

It doesn't work, it doesn't work, it doesn't work

You like the crowd, I don’t like it
When I'm too hot, you're too cold
When you parade, I run away
And people think I’m a kill-joy
I have nothing against you but it doesn’t work
I have nothing to do with you
Don't try to find out why
Some things cannot be explained

It doesn't work, it doesn't work, it doesn't work

I don't like to say it
You don’t match with me
Our relationship is ruined
I have nothing against you but it doesn’t work
I have nothing to do with you
Don't try to find out why
Some things cannot be explained

It doesn't work, it doesn't work, it doesn't work

The usual goodness in melody, lyric and arrangement with the usual problem in the room sound of the vocals - it works for the chorus on the left though.
The "shaker" moved a little in & out of time but not enough to catch an ear to closely.
Well done.

I'm with rayc - I love everything... except the boominess of the room on the voice.

Is that a wah sound on the clavinet? It sounds cool, as does the well-placed vibra-slap hits.

Really like this - toe-tapping goodness! laugh

Really well done - it flows perfectly, with a groove that is easy to follow. I agree with David above me - it's certainly a top tapper.

Thanks for sharing!

Cool tune. Makes me wanna play along. The voice is good, but in a "different room" from the band. Was the shaker added? Seems a bit too up front.

A cool toe tapper with a fun chorus.
Instrumentally nothing out of place- love the gypsy fiddle.
As others noted; a tweak on vocal processing would make me sing "it does work"!

Thank you all for your comments.
Here's another version. Thanks to Ray who has worked on the mix !
This version is more in the gypsy jazz tradition. Christian

Hi Chris and Patrick,

another very nice gypsy jazz style song. Kept my feet tapping - very cool.

Cheers,
