Hi all. This tune was written in 1912 and would latter
be made famous by Doris Day and now is in the public domain.

(Written by m. Percy Weinrich, w. Edward Madden)

Ive performed this a little different from the Doris Days Version.
Any way you be the judge. All comments welcome. Rob4580

On Moonlight Bay

"On Moonlight Bay 1912 - m. Percy Weinrich, w. Edward Madden"

We were sailing along on Moonlight Bay
We could hear the voices ringing
They seemed to say
"You have stolen her heart"
"Now don't go 'way"
As we sang love's old sweet song on Moonlight Bay

Hi Rob,

Nicely done!

Wonderfully relaxed feel and a great band, with a smooth vocal over.

Good mix as well.

Enjoyed.

ROG.
WOW, another cracker Rob. JUST LOVE your vocals for these kinda songs. Nice key change too. Nothing too heavy in the backing either. Brilliant all round
I can imagine Elvis singing this on the soundtrack of Blue Hawaii or similar.
You REALLY have nailed your vocal recording technique and have a happy knack of building songs that tthrive under your voice.
COOL stuff.
Rob,

This is really great. I absolutely love your Elvis-like delivery. It is so natural and unforced.

Terrific song and performance!

Bob
Excellent tune Rob. Another super vocal
Rob,
A fine, relaxed, smooth vocal and enjoyable arrangement of this oldie- which you sound very comfortable with.
The nylon guitar fills are a nice touch.

Robert
Hi Rob
Really nice vocal and for me the folk arrangement is a winner.
With all due respect to Doris Day, I much prefer your version.
Regards,
Leon
Definitely one of Love's sweet songs. Well done, Rob. Great vocal rendition, and the band is perfect. Thankfully no Doris.
Hello Rog.
Thank you for your support.

Hi Rob ...

I remember this song so well. My mother used to sing it all the time back in the 50s when I was a kid. I've always liked it a lot. I wasn't aware it's now in the PD.

Your smooth, full voice is a perfect compliment to this arrangement. I always enjoy your posts ... this one in particular. The uke and mandolin were really great choices for this!

At 1:18 - 1:20, the acoustic guitar on the left channel came in a bit harshly. but it didn't distract from your wonderful song.

As always, really nice!@ best to you ...

Alan
Hi Rob.

I could not say it better than Ray smile

Excellent revival & performance! Thank you for sharing.

Misha.
Nice work - I remember the original too! My grandpa was a huge Doris Day fan - it's crazy to me this is public domain now. You did a really nice job on it - you make it have a modern edge, and your vocals work perfectly for the song.

Thanks for sharing smile
Well done, Rob. Good BAND and a good vocal.
Hi Rob. THis is a perfect cover for you!! Your Elvis style is the perfect vehicle to deliver a tune like this!! Take care. Greg
Thanks for listening Graham.

Blue Hawaii...The Basement Tapes

Great use of all acoustic RT's. The mando solo was
superb.

The modulation was effective and put you in a register
we haven't noted before...and it was good smile

The acoustic backing and simple lyric along with your
nice vocal all made for a very pleasant production.
Nice mix also.

Enjoyed it!

Rob,

Like this a lot--definitely an Elvis vibe to this, something right out of those movies I loved watching as a kid. Sweet listen!

Deej

Thank you for your comment Scott.
