I finally finished up this one after getting uprooted from California and now settled in central Kansas.
The move was a miserable process I might add....hence...I've been out of the loop a bit.

I know, who in their right mind writes a song about a hormone?.....nature's speed when called upon to go beyond the call of duty when needed.

Style used: KGBALLAD.STY. KGBallad - Smooth Jazz
Of course, I opened up in Real Band and changed/edited many things.
Rhythm Electric: me
Lead Guitar & rhythm acoustic: Ken Lasaine whom I've worked with before.
Flute: Phil Moore

Thanks to any that do give a listen and hope you found it worthy of your time.

Lyrics:

Verse 1
Wrong place, right time
Standing on the edge of flight or fight
Even though, you know it's not safe.
You dig deep and won't walk away.

Verse 2
A sudden rush of cool clarity
Unafraid even if you bleed.
Save a life or stop a cruel crime
Defend a victim cause you know it's right.

Chorus
Adrenaline...if you have the will it provides you the way
Arenaline....the steeper the hill the stronger your faith.

Lead Break

Verse 3
The heart pounds....drums in the chest.
You know what to do so don't second guess.
It's never easy facing our fears
But bad situations need brave volunteers

Chorus

Verse 1 repeat
Outro

Nicely done - love the upbeat groove on it, and the flutes added a nice dynamic to it. This is the kind of tune I can imagine sounding unreal live.

Thanks for sharing smile

Wayne,
Excellent rocker! Nice guitars. Loved the flute. Enjoyed it.
Thank you for sharing.

Ian Anderson meets Eric Clapton!

This is a super in your pocket groove. I loved the flute and guitar leads! The vocals were also excellent and the mix was outstanding.

60's - 70's rock at its best.

The fast driving beat and jamming guitars really make this work. Really like that part at the end with the jamming flute/guitar too. Very impressive how the band and you meld all these instruments, sounds and the vocals into a consistent whole. An excellent song, great lyrics and vocals too.

**Fast edit - as Deryk said, this would be just unreal live. I'll bet it would be a super crowd pleaser.

Reveille!.....good morning all.

Daryk,
I liked the flute track too....to hear it live (my live band days are long over. :)) would be a treat for me too.

Misha,
It was a time vampire to mix this one....35 tracks! Yikes!

MarioD,
Ha...."Eric meets Ian"....the guitar player (Ken) thought it was reminiscent of Jefferson Airplane.
Starting out more like the Doors meet Mama's And The Papa's but evolved differently with the flute included.

Ed,
As Deryk mentioned also the upbeat feel of this one appealed to me too, it fit the lyrical feel so I ran with it.
I spent about six weeks on the lyrics...clip board in hand 24/7. smile

To be honest....I still agonize over uploading any news song.
By the time I'm done with it and heard it a thousand times I start to think it totally sucks. smile
Hopefully I'm wrong.

You gents were very kind.
Thank you all for the listen and favorable comments.
Have a great day....

There're a few bit of string noise that are quite loud on the acoustic side that would be easy to reduce or removed - they're quite loud.
This would fit into the dismantling of the summer of love period really well.
I used to co-write with a saxophonist/flautist - it's always a treat to get great flute work into a song.
There might be justification for adding just a little more presence to your lead vocal.

Rayc....howdy....

I'll revisit the mix due to your observations....I appreciate the suggestions.
There's always room for improvement.
The flute is a bit tricky in the mixing stage....I might add. smile

Thanks for giving it a spin.

Hey Wayne ...

Great to hear a new post from you!

This is terrific! Jazz-Rock in my book. I love the genre. This really stands out among the many songs here. I love the short flute breaks before its lead riff. And the guitar is really sweet, too!

I have to agree with the Ian Anderson analogy. Your vocal is strong and placed perfectly in the mix. I'll be 73 in 2 weeks and the ears aren't what they used to be ... but they enjoyed a great listen!

Uh ... big difference between SoCal and middle Kansas! I'have relatives who live in Garden City and Dodge City. I'm originally from nearby Missouri.

Best to you and hope you enjoy your new home.

Alan

Howdy Alan....

I'm honored by the generous review....thank you very kindly.
It was a tough one to mix.
Ha...I hear ya'...my ears aren't what they used to be either...I keep plugging along anyway.

Oh yeah...much different here in the Heartland.
But...we're settling in here and I'm pleased to be out of California for a few reasons. smile

Thanks again...much appreciated.

Nice blend of your performances, your collaborators' performances and BiaB.

And wrapped in an excellent mix.

Enjoyed it!

PS As old mountain bikers we get the adrenaline thing...well, the good aspects of it smile

I like the "adrenaline" tag connected to the flight or fight idea-goes well with the driving feel of the song.
An excellent blend of real and Rt instruments with one of the best rock leaning flute passages I`ve heard on this forum.
Very good music!

Howdy Robert....

I tend to write about different/various subjects...in my own pea brain, that is.
Writing about the the subject of adrenaline was challenging, yet intriguing.
How do I make this subject lyrically interesting/engaging for any would be listener?
But...I was determined and plowed on through it.

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen and favorable comments.

Gooood evening....

Nice upbeat bluesy rocker!! Well conceived and performed! Has a great retro sound! Enjoyed a lot!! Take care. Greg

Nice rolling pop song, "drums in the chest" message fits excellently to the driving rhythm. Chorus hook is memorable. Some Knopfler on the vocals and guitar playing, flute adds strong, almost psychedelic colors.

This reminded me of Quicksilver Messenger Service if you threw a thick reverb on the vocals. Sounds like a lot of work to get right and it was certainly worth the effort.

Howdy Greg, Janne & Tunemonger.....

Greg....
"Nice upbeat bluesy rocker!!"....
You busted me....that's undoubtedly my default song writing propensity.

Janne....
"drums in the chest"....I thought that imagery was perfect for the sound of adrenaline's heartbeat too.

Tunemonger....
"Quicksilver"....works for me....great group.
Our band (Ambush...back in 1978) opened for Terry And The Pirates with John Cipollina.
Yes....it was some work as I had lots of tracks....some to keep/some to cull.

Many thanks to you all for taking the time to listen and kind comments.

A good weekend to all....I need more coffee.
