Hi all,
For this song, David Lekich (Deej56) has written the lyrics. He has found a melody on my music and he sings. Thanks to him ! Christian

Devil shadow on the ground :
Used to be I used to own this town,
broke every heart that love would dare my way.
Cruised through endless lover’s arms
with a wild smile and cool, cool charm.
They knew it but they loved me all the same.

Then she walked in with those supple hips,
fire blue eyes and red hot lips.
Lord, that woman scorched my very tongue.
She lit me up like rocket fuel,
then left me here a melted fool,
boiled down to the nothing and no one . . .
In a burning sun.

It’s funny how the things you do,
in the end, they fall back on you.
I see it now, but still it don’t seem fair.
I tried to put things back the way they were,
find a cooler place from a still hot her,
but next to her no other love compares.

So I drown all sense of what it means
in tequila shots and Jimmy Beam,
anything to keep me feeling numb.
In the midst of all this misery,
I’m not the man I used to be,
stuck here growing old and dying young . . .
in a burning sun.

(Cool, boy . . . get a grip,
walk it back . . . get over this;
cool, boy . . . make it right,
grab some shade . . . get her gone tonight.)

But it don’t matter how hard I try,
I can’t get that girl out of my mind.
Devil woman, tell me what you’ve done !
I’ve lost the power to erase
the memory of her temptress face,
a vision in my head I can’t outrun . . .
it’s a burning sun.
Yeah, she’s a burning sun.

Cool tune!! Great energy and emotion! Particularly liked this line...

She lit me up like rocket fuel,
then left me here a melted fool,

Little different direction for you Chris!

Nicely done guys!! Take care. Greg

A powerful vocal.
A good rock track overall but the drums have no power. The solo is too "tame" - especially compared to the level of the vocal. If the vocal were to sit down in the mix more that would help, but I think you would still need to bring up both the drums and the solo guitar. There is potential for this to really "Rock".

Fantastic vehicle for your fantastic vocals. Enjoyed it.

I think the backing would gain power from more level - the vocal is way clear for the most part.
Throw some heavy compression on the drums and enable auto make up gain - that should bring some power to the game. Also some EQing to lift the snare & kick/bass drum would work.
Cool song.

Thanks Greg, Floyd, TuneMonger and Ray.
I've added compression on drums and on solo guitar and I've increased the volume level of drums. Christian

Thanks Marty,
I'm agree with you about the undeniable quality of David's voice.
And I think his lyrics fit very well with this style of music.

This song is sooo close to soaring! Its fine as is - particularly in the upper register,Deej sings as well as anyone I can think of- and the backing has a nice acoustic/electric Blind Faith feel.
Thelyrics are well written and I like the voice over...its an excellent song.
( I may be listening to a remix, but still think the drums are lacking oomph and solo guitar sounds low).

A really nice rocking tune with a very strong impassioned vocal.

A really nice composition and quite anthemic.

Hi Christian and David,

You made a very cool rocker! David's vocals are strong as always, and all together it is very catchy!
Like it a lot. There is one little thing though... it is so well performed I couldn't find anything to complain about.
Why couldn't you make a tiny mistake??? (just joking as you might have guessed).

Cheers,
Hans

Another great sounding and rocking collaboration, has a big bit of Lynyrds in it, catchy chorus. Super vocals but what else to expect from David L. The title is very appropriate, "she's a burning sun" nice way to sum up the whole hot lyrical landscape.

Reminds me of the old 60's rockers. Pretty cool!! I like the contrast of the solo, it makes you want to pay attention.

Greg, Floyd, TuneMonger, rayc, Marty, Robert, Peter, Hans, James, Janne and Belladonna:

Thanks so much for the listen and kind comments. Hopefully, Christian’s tweaks have addressed some of the feedback. But glad the song seems to have resonated for the most part. Appreciate you all giving this a spin!

And a special thanks to Christian for inviting me to participate on this one--glad to have been a part of it.

My best to each of you,

Deej

Man, does that ever take it out.....

This is one to crank up to stadium filling volume!

Anthemic indeed.

Great collab you two!

Cool song! I really enjoyed this. A great vocal and I like the choice of RT's. I think the drums could still be a bit more in your face.

Nice job!
