LYRICS

I try so many days to write
I try to write a song ...
The notes, the words, they don't come any more;
I write, if right or wrong.

And I almost put my pen aside
But one thing's on my brain ...
If this was my last day on the Earth,
To you, what would I say?

I love you, every day.

And I look down at God's green Earth
Where pain does never cease
I look at you, my soul so broke
And all I want is peace.

And I almost give up straightaway ...
But one thing's on my mind
If this was my last day on the Earth
What words, to say, I'd find?

You're ever so kind ... you're ever so kind.

The night goes by, so does the day,
And, writing through the tears,
I think of what to say to you
That I haven't said in years ...

And if I never write again
If my pen I put down
If this my last breath does represent
Before to Him I bow ...

What would I say? I love you, in every way. What would I say? I love you ... I love you always.

It's a gorgeous song James. Stunning lyrics. Love the backing. I reckon this would also suit a good country backing with pedal steel, mandoline & strings ?

I can definitely try that new backing style, if I get a little more free time! Thanks Graham!!!

No bother James, just a thought

If it were up to me, Graham, I'd spend most of my time in front of the computer, experimenting with BIAB. Sadly, I do have to do other, more "earthy" stuff sometimes, sadly :-( ... and, these past few days, I've done far too much BIAB experimenting - or so a rigorous interpretation of my schedule would say, haha. So yes, as soon as I get some free time, why not? :-)

Very nice work on this one - the lyrics are fantastic and your vocal delivery is the perfect vehicle for them. Loved the instrumentation too - really lush and pretty on the ears.

Thanks for sharing smile

I didn't hear the first version but this is good. Well written song. Nice production. Good use of BIAB.

James,

Lovely, lovely music on this one—very pretty sounding . . . complimented by a sweet, sentimental and honest write. Very nicely done!

All my best to you,

Deej

Sweet, James. I love the chord changes. I hear a big production with a lot of voices singing your wonderful lyrics.
