This is a song that bluage and I collaborated on. I wrote the main lyrics and bluage did the rest. All I knew was that it was a Reggae song and probably mid-tempo (although I may not have conveyed that part to bluage). From there, bluage took all creative control and recorded and produced a really cool song. He'll have to tell you all the BIAB instruments, etc., that he used. He sang the vocals too, which are wonderful.

p.s. I just noticed bluage also added some fade out lyrics, so he gets some writing credit too.

Thanks Loren for bringing my words to life! I appreciate it.

Here is:

That's How Strong My Love Is

Thank you for any listens and comments.

I'm going to jump off the cliffs of Negril
If the fall don't kill me, the drowning will
I'm going to wash up on some distant shore
And I won't have to think of you no more

That's how much I love you
That's how much I love you, baby
That's how much I love you
I love you, oh yeah

I'm going to move myself to Miami Beach
Maybe there I'll be out of reach
But your memory travels like a plane
Finds me anywhere, makes me insane

That's how much I love you
That's how much I love you, baby
That's how much I love you
I love you, oh yeah

(Bridge)
There is nothing more powerful than love
There is nothing more powerful than love

I'm going to lay myself down on the track
Until that Kingstown train come roaring back
I'll just lay here until that day
When that locomotive take me away

That's how much I love you
That's how much I love you, baby
That's how much I love you
I love you, oh yeah

That's how much I love you
That's how much I love you, baby
That's how much I love you
I love you, oh yeah

I love you, you love me
We will live in harmony
I'll hold you tight all through the night
And our love will be out of sight

Really nice. Loren's magic can make anything special. I remember the song Loren did for me "Bottom Dollar", all the ad lieb made it so special. Love the upbeat melody and vocals. We all need some "happy songs".
I like this, good write and great job on the track from Loren. Especially like what he did for the bridge!

Collaborations are the best, well done you two.
Good job on this, both of ya. The tracks are good and Loren has a nice vocal warmth that works well for the style. Nice mix. I enjoyed the listen... the ending fade was cool...
Like it!

Reggae is happy music right from the start.... Nice work on the writing too...
Thanks for listen and comments. I appreciate it.
Dear jptjptjpt, dear Loren,

what a treat.

First things first: Loren, I do love your warm voice !!!!
A very cool arrangement with absolutely no frills - just great. Very nice lyrics, of course, too.

A most beautiful love song.

All the best,

Stefan
Warm, communicative voice - very occasionally pitchy in the intro though.
Nice reggae backing - just a little slow for ska from my perspective.
STRONG vocal in the bridge.
Nice stuff.
"Belladonna', 'guitarhacker', Floyd Jane, 'blueattitude', Stephan, and 'rayc'...

Thank all of you for listening to and commenting on 'jptjpt's' song, That's How Much I Love You. His lyrics were just so-o-o good that I heard music immediately upon reading them for the very first time.

'rayc', you have ears like radar smile !!! It's true I was singing near the top of my vocal range in every verse except the bridge.

Stay safe out there, folks, and remember to keep that 'social distance' laugh.

Sincerely,

LOREN

A great feel!! It's now playing for the 3rd time (as of this sitting). What a wonderful voice with so much texture to it. Loren, you can make anything sound better, and this song and jptjptjpt's lyrics are the perfect vehicle. Thanks for the collaboration, and sharing this wonderful result.

Ok, now I'm my 5th go-round, and wanted to mention the cool flute solo.
Nice job! Agreed about this being a happy genre.
jptjptjpt and Loren, this is super. Great vocal and instrumentation, i.e. that flute was super. Great harmonies also. This had a happy go luck, care free feeling through out.

Excellent work!
Dear 'HearToLearn', 'BabuMusic' and 'MarioD'...

'HereToLearn', I'm glad you found the song to be such an upbeat listening experience smile. I figured it was the best approach to composing music for a song that dealt with someone threatening to commit suicide to demonstrate his love for his partner laugh.

'BabuMusic', that was lotta listening you did laugh !!! Thanks for your enthusiasm.

'MarioD', I appreciate your comments smile. What you heard is what happens when you're given some inspiring lyrics to compose music for !!!

Thanks, again, all smile.

LOREN
Clever lyrics and a good tune well sung. Nice job, got my foot tapping on this one!
Very happy sounding, well produced, sung and arranged.

Very impressive collaboration.

Enjoyed.

Peter
Very good opening lines! The vibe is warm upbeat and carried as much by Loren`s excellent vocal as that infectious reggae beat.
Nice ad libs to close out a very enjoyable collaboration.
Well done.

Robert
We've been a bit of ska/reggae fans for many years and how cool to
hear this on the forum.

As mentioned your warm soulful vocal is perfecto for this genre.

And lyrically and melodically it is square in the middle of the
genre ballpark.

Upbeat and fun. Two words yep. But they mean a LOT.

Great collab you two...oh, forgot to mention. Nice mix!

Hey jpt, this is great! Loren, first time I hear you singing. I should have known you were this good. Choice of style very good. Good production all around.

Dear 'tunemonger', "PeterF', Janice & Bud, 'Robertkc' and 'cubanpete'...

Sean (a.k.a. 'jptjpt') and me are happy to read that the song lifted all your boats -- toot, toot laugh !!!

'cubanpete', I sing when nobody else volunteers to do it, but thanks for your enthusiasm for it smile.

Most sincerely,

LOREN
Very cool collaboration guys. Super vocal. Love the lyric. Super backtrack
jptjptjpt & Loren,

Nice collaboration!
The atmosphere of reggae is transmitted straight.
Both of the lyrics and the melody have a lot of reggae feel.
Loren's vocals are very cool.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Shigeki Adachi
Hello, 'ScottC'; hello, Shigeki ...

On behalf of 'jptjptjpt' (he's somewhere around the forum :)), thank you for taking the time to audition Sean's song.

Collaborations are fun laugh !!!

Sincerely,

LOREN
"The Cracks" LOL! I love this collab - it's guaranteed to bring a smile - playful and sounds wonderful. Good job guys!
Hi Loren and jpt,

This is a very engaging listen!

Loren I always enjoy your vocals. They sit very comfortably on my ears. Your treatment of jpt's lyrics is excellent. The bridge followed by the piccolo/flute especially appealed to me.

You've both done a really fine job.

Regards,
Noel
Hey, there, 'Noel96' ...

Arrived back at home port, eh ??? smile Nice to hear from you, sir, and to be the recipient along with Sean (a.k.a. 'jptjptjpt') of your gracious comments about That's How Much I Love You .

I wish you well, 'Noel96' !!!

Truly,

LOREN
This is a nice reggae themed song , good lyrics and vocals and a good job all around so well done to you guys.

Thanks

Hello Gentlemen ...

Janice and Bud said most of what I was thinking as I listen. Loved that flute sol! This shines from many perspectives. Kudos to both fo you for a great song and production! This is a really "neat" song.

Wishing you both the very best. Be safe ...

Alan
Quote:
Collaboration between bluage (75%) and me (25%)

You are of course fee to do as you wish, however, in the vast majority of the industry, it is common practice to divide the collab equally between all the writers. It just makes for a more harmonious relationship.

I tell all my collaborators up front that everything is an equal split. It doesn't matter if I wrote 95% of it.... if I ask someone to help me because I can't seem to get the last few lines worked out, and they come in and suggest something that really works well and finishes the song.... I don't say they get 5%, I say they get 50% of the song between 2 writers. I have worked this way for a very long time. With most songs being a 2 or 3 way collab the math just makes sense.

Just my 2 cents on this whole issue of credits split.

Totally agree with Stefan! Like the little bridge part leading into the solo! Thanks, Torrey

Thank you, 'beatmaster' smile. Sean and I appreciate your kind comments !!!

Howdy, 'Guitarhacker' ...

Yup, I agree with you all the way. I told Sean the same thing, but I think his obviously more-than-generous heart compelled him to tilt the imaginary scales in my favor smile. Regardless, if anybody wanted to pay us for the song, I'd do the 50-50 thing, too, and then leave Sean a big 'ol tip for writing such excellent lyrics laugh !!!

Nice to hear from you, sir.

Truly,

LOREN + SEAN (Now, where did that guy go ???)
Hello Alan & Ms. Di...

I think I went through four solo instruments before I chose the flute, but, obviously, it was the brightest-sounding instrument and therefore was perfect for maintaining a 'happy' sound in a song that treats the subject of romantically-provoked suicide with such a tongue-in-cheek sense of humor.

Thank you and Ms. Di for being our listeners smile !!!

I hope you and Ms. Di will continue to keep that protective bubble around you as we weather this coronavirus 'storm'.

Most sincerely,

LOREN + SEAN (in spirit, for him, that is laugh. )
Mr. Torrey Bliss...

Correct me if I'm wrong, but, haven't I heard a reggae-flavored song from you on the forum in the past?

Any old way, it's nice to read that you liked "...the little bridge part leading into the solo!" Because of Sean's lyrics for the bridge/chorus, I think it was the most emotionally powerful part of the song.

I wish you well, sir, and thanks for listening to a song that's kind'a deep in the forum list!!!

Sincerely,

LOREN + SEAN (Oh! There he is...jes' kiddin' laugh. )
Clean and tight production, Loren. I am assuming you put the lyrics to music too. Melody suits the lyrics nicely!

Sweet lyrics, Sean. Clever verses.

I, too, love that flute solo.
Sean,
I wanted to congratulate you on finding a very fit partner for this tune! Loren done a fantastic job! Very rooty stuff with Latin twist. Sounds very authentic. In my opinion, this was a very successful collaboration. Thank you for sharing!

P.S. I wanted to comment on this in March, but things got a bit hectic. I am glad it was bumped and I had a chance to listen and give feedback.

Misha.
