Hi all,
Ray Cochrane has written the lyrics of this blues.
Natacha Lubin is singing.

Life is not as it seems
Nor is it as we dreamed
Life is all compromise
Or a tissue of lies
When we make of life what we will
Make it what we’re allowed
Destiny to fulfil
Brings shame or makes us proud.

No time to look back
No time to look on
Life is not a marathon
Take your own time
And hold onto daylight
Reject the cold night

Love is not as we dreamed
Nor is it as it seemed
Love is not for the wise
Nor a glittering prize
But, no, life is not as it seems
Love is not as we dreamed
Life’s no glittering prize
There’s no chance to revise.

Great tune! I love the piano part on this.
Nicely done all around. With a collaboration by 3, it's amazing how magically the mix of creativity blends so seamlessly. You were all remarkably on the same page. Love the chord changes and the sultry blues feel, and the lyrics fit in so smoothly. Then the vocal... just WOW. The mandolin was a nice twist, too. Super job, Chris, Ray & Natacha.
Great lyrics, great singer, I felt like I was listening to Postmodern Jukebox. Well done!!!

Good Evening ...

I fully agree with TuneMonger. Everything about this is so good! And, like TuneMonger, I'm a big fan of Post Modern Jukebox. The mandolin lead riff was unexpected but a real nice choice. Natacha's voice is splendid and Ray's lyric is very nicely done. You did and excellent job on this with your two collaborators. Best to you and be safe ...

This had rather a protracted gestation. I fear my lyrics made it a difficult sell for Christian.
The backing is excellent, the voice is lovely if a little indecipherable in a couple of places, (such is expected for 2nd/3rd etc language interpretations I suppose).
Gorgeous.
Lovely blues with very nice chord progression. Lyrics have sweet and sour combination of optimism and melancholy. Nice vocalist and the selection of instruments, the solo piano and mandolin work very well and the cello adds the final touch.

Hello Chris,

I always love these kind of songs. This one is no exeption.
They evoke a beautiful melancholic feeling in you/me.
Very nicely done, written and sung by Natacha and Ray.

Thanks,
Hans
A good universally understood lyric, fine melody and vocal to match. The singer has such sweet phrasing moments of different accent are unimportant.
A most enjoyable collaboration.

Thank you all for your comments. Christian

Da capo !!!

Stay healthy, guys !

Wow...there is a lot of wisdom packed in that!

Excellent vocal and production. The piano and mandolin are very nice.

Collabs are fun and when it all comes together like this they can be magical.

Do it again!!!

I loved the vocal. The instrumentation is perfect as is the mix. The lyrics are great!

You all should be very proud of this one.
Really nice all round, a very good instrumental bed, chords and production.

Enjoyed the vocal and lyrics.

Nice work by all concerned.

Christian (and Ray and Natacha):

Very nicely done. Natasha’s vocal fits this song and lyric really well; the softness of her voice really fits the backing track that Christian has expertly put together. Admirable collaboration all—impressive work!

My best to you all,

Deej
