We've all said it, it's part of everyday language, and I thought I would incorporate it into a gospel song..

Whatever

Just the other day, I remember coming out of the local mart,
I saw a man in the parking lot, struggling with his cart.
I asked him if I could help him, I’ll do it like a christian should,
I told him about Jesus’s love, and he said whatever.

Chorus:

Whatever, will determine , where you’re going to go,
I’d rather see you in that heavenly place,
before the devil claims your soul.
The choice is really simple, it’s heaven or a fiery hell,
Satan wants you to say, Whatever.

Satan is trembling when he hears somebody pray in Jesus name,
because he know he’s lost another one, who’ll never be the same.
He’s stoking that fire, hotter and hotter, just laughing in the flame,
He’s waiting for another lost soul to say, Whatever.

Repeat Chourus:

Guitar Solo: 1279; Guitar, Electric, Soloist CountryboogieBrent Sw140

Nice use of the band. Cool how you worked the Gospel into the blues. Dylan does that sometimes too. Good you scoped up on the "whatever" saying.

Ronnie,

A good write - nice use of the hook.
Nice use of the BIAB tracks (they are somewhat "dull" - as if all the high EQ has been taken out of them. They could be a bit "brighter").

I like your "rockin' side".

Whatever you do, Ronnie, the blues and gospel are heavenly, and this mover really rises to the occasion. Nicely done! Wonderful lyrics and a very cool chorus.

Yes! A blues shuffle is always in our wheelhouse.

The blues and gospel have been married a long time...and this is a fine example.

Enjoyed it!
