"April's Calling"
...shows you how long it sometimes takes to finish projects!!

============================
April's calling:
"Come out and play".
April's calling:
"Look at my glorious day!
What you are witness to
Is the birth of the new."

April's singing:
"Come see the sights.
Skylarks winging
Earth's emerging delights.
This day I've brought you to
The birth of the new.

Now that winter's over and summer's on its way;
Don't delay til May;
Go ahead and say
"It's Spring!"

April's crowing:
"Get out of bed!
Winter's snowing's over--sunshine instead.
Sit back enjoy my show
Listen, this is April calling:
"Watch my flowers grow."

April's blooming--
Fresh, bright brocade.
Gardens grooming,
Nature's beauty displayed.
Sit back enjoy the show;
Listen-- this is April calling:
"Watch my flowers grow".

This is a trip back in time...Sammy Davis, Jr.... Bing and Bob.

You've got this style, the melody and lyrics, down pat here.

Nice one.

Tano,
How do you come up with these lyrics & phrasing? Brilliant!
Smooth arrangement too. It seems to me, you wrote some music for the stage at some point.. Am I right?

P.S. One of my favorite of yours, still remains "Day of the Dead" smile
Thank you for sharing.

Misha.

Ezekiel, Leon, misha...thanks for listening, and for your feedback. I’ve studied closely the songs from the great American song era, the 30’s thru 50’s, and I would say that that’s a considerable influence for me, but I’ve never written any music for public performance, including by me.

And that study certainly has resulted in some fine productions ... this one included.

Very nice write, vocal and mix.

And do we every wish we could start anew April 2020 with your song's theme!

Most enjoyable...

J&B...The summer is hot, humid, sticky, with lots of thunderstorms right now… April weather sure sounds great! Thanks for listening!

Tano, there was a musician, composer and piano player that lived here in Florida (I think)native of California that went by the name of Michael Franks that had the same vibe and vocal quality. You remind me of him a lot.
My compliments.

Tano Music:

Your song, April's Calling, is as bouyant and carefree as The Telephone Song recorded by Stan Getz and Astrud Gilberto on their Live At Café Au Go-Go album on the Verve label way back in 1964.

Also, it's deeply appealing for the sweet, harmless innocence of the lyrics, as the word 'innocence' is defined in Webster's New World Dictionary: "free from sin, evil". In fact, I could hear the lyrics sung by a choir of children -- that's how optimistic and upliting it sounds.

Colorful, musically liberating 'changes', too. You put your heart into this one, I'm sure.

Thanks, Ardent..you’ve described my intentions exactly!

I really like the "age of the crooners" feel to this song (I could listen to Bing Crosby, Bob Eberle, Tex Benecke, Tony Bennett, etc all day long). The accompaniment is perfect for this piece.

Tom,

Very nice jazz bossa!
Your vocal fits this perfectly.
The piano seems to be played by Jobim, and the strings seem to be arranged by Claus Ogerman.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.
