I am heading out on the road again for a couple of months. Most of the places we go to are out of cell phone range. I will check back in when I can. Everybody stay well!

I was going through my loop library and found this nylon latin guitar. I thought it was perfect for the song I was thinking of.

Santa Fe

Once I had a settled life I thought I ‘d made a home

A pretty girl with eyes black as night

But a burr got under my saddle off I had to roam

branded forever when she cried

Desert wind keeps blowing in

Thoughts of long ago

Not sure how I ended up this way

California’s Fine but she’s still on my mind

Since I heard that Kacey’s back in Santa Fe

There’s nothing like a sunset on a high desert plain

To help a man see where his trail goes

The cowboy life can rope you in in ways you can’t explain

Make you give up everything you’ve known

Desert wind keeps blowing in

California’s Fine but she’s still on my mind

Tom,

An excellent write. Simple, solid, saying all it needs to in short order.

Your usual excellent vocal. Distinctive - like the "distintive" greats - Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Tom T. Hall...

Great tracks all around. Your mixes always POP. They bring my speakers ALIVE.
And they always have tasty elements sprinkled throughout.

This one really "sticks with ya". The hallmark of "done right". In all regards.

Have great (safe) travels!

As good as it gets I think, just a great song!

Excellent write, vocal and guitar work.

And man, your mixes are always so good! Makes me always strive to do better with my own.

Enjoy your road trip, see you in a couple of months!

Hey Tom, I really like this. The acoustic sounds perfect in this. Nice work all the way around.

Boy did this sound good on my monitors. Very cool intro and chord progression. Awesome vocal Tom. Really cool rhythm to this tune. Well done

This is perfect - the melody and RT's, the story, the song, the vocal.

I was hooked in less than six seconds.

Standing ovation, Tom.

Careful on the road.

Great singing, great song, and I loved those guitar fills. I loved the way that it led into your chorus, and the all too brief solo. Stellar!

Tom,
Top class songwriting and performance in every respect;its hard to think of anyone who sounds more steeped in the genre and it makes for very good music!

Wow,I really like this.

Great title, somehow locations draw me in. Dig the story. Your performances are great. Just a great song. Congrats.

Bud's first thought was Marty Robbins meets Eagles.

Janice's was, "It makes me want to watch a western movie or read a western novel."

Man, that vocal and acoustic guitar are outstanding. And the write is equally top bar.

"There’s nothing like a sunset on a high desert plain
To help a man see where his trail goes"

A fav of many great lines.

The production? What's left to say? Pro studio sound ALL the way.

Janice said she'll be singing it all day smile

Hi TommyAD,

Wow, what a cool tune!
Like a big ole bite of the southwest if I've ever heard it.
Such a complex mix of instruments that sounds so simple and clean.
"Since I heard that Kacey’s back in Santa Fe"
This line tells me that it's kind of a personal thing with you.
Otherwise you may have used Maria or Consuelo...
Well, at least you don't rust in the high desert...
I enjoyed listening to it. Thanks for posting!

The layers of guitars really stood out for me. A bit of mystery is felt in that sound.

Good vocal performance and tune. Very enjoyable!

Very nice!
Somehow a familiar feeling.
I like it.
Well done.

Hello Tommyad,

Well done composition and very gripping lyrics with a moving story. The arrangement is well done and the sobriety of the instruments successful. Well done

Best regard

Hi, Tom !

What a wonderful song !
...and though I didn´t
meet with Kacey ,
I can still recall
the desert winds from
my visit in Santa Fé
many years ago !!!

A beautiful tune for
a most interesting
place upon Rio Grande !!

Cheers

Hi Tom, this is a pleasant song listening to, although the lyrics not exactly underline the word 'pleasant', I suppose.
And your vocals are made for these kind of songs. I can almost feel the sorrow you had...
