nice treatment of topical issue.
I really liked the change in the guitar background around the 2:00 mark. BGV's real nice. Guitar(s) all sounding great.
This would make a good PSA!
Hopefully we'll be out of this soon!

My stuff is frequently inspired by current events.

Nicely done. A subject well covered smile

BAND sounds good. Nice guitar.

Well sung. Very cool processing for the vocal.

Hi Capn ...

This is a really cool song! Great vocals and a super arrangement. As mentioned, topical and a good message. I really enjoyed this! That b/g guitar around 2:00 gives new life to the song ... refreshing and an excellent choice.

Really nice work! Wishing you the best. Be safe ...

That vocal has a rain barrel tone to it.
Seems a nice arrangement but it's also a little polite.
Could use some beef.
Nice narrative.

I think I understand you comment about needing more beef and being polite.

Rain barrel is a new term to me.
I'm never happy with my vocals ( not a great singer for sure) but, I don't understand the rain barrel comment.
Please elaborate so that I might be able to address that.

Good tune.

I will not accept this as the "new normal" and refuse to wear a face covering.

BUT.... you did a good job on "covering" this topic from the other side.

Thanks for listening and providing your point of view.

It's obvious we disagree on what's the right thing to do to be a responsible citizen.

This is not the place for a debate on social responsibility so, I'll hold my comments on the subject.

Hi Moto.
I like a lot of this one. Melody and arrangement.
For me, there may be a little too much reverb on the instruments.

Captain,
A gently topical lyric, well sung and thoughtfully arranged;for my taste the spoken word section distracted a little-its on message though.

Thanks,
Guess it's a matter of taste and I can't question the taste of a listener.
Posted By: CaptainMoto Re: Covered Faces - 09/24/20 08:48 PM
Thanks for that,
I suppose I could have gone in a different direction.
I generally like to generate these songs in a short timeframe so
I usually go with what comes to mind in the moment.

Has the sound that suggests a long narrow space, like singing into a tunnel but smaller. You have a "halo" around your voice that makes it sound like it's in a different room to the music. IF you used the native BIAB preset reverb on the BIAB tracks that would be PART of the problem.

I'll have to go back and visit the effects I used.

Hello CaptainMoto,

Very pleasant composition. Simple but efficient arrangement. The lead guitar with its reverb is very pleasant. You used the biab voices in a well-organized way.

Captain,
Very good tune and fine reflection of "out times".
Pizzicato worked nicely with sparse solo and ooohs. Cool variation in singed <-> spoken word vocals. Liked it! Thank you for sharing.

We recently lost a very long time friend to Covid-19 who was fit and took precautions. His widow
posted this: "I lost a loved one ... I wear this mask to protect yours." Says it all.

Needless to say we enjoyed your song. Good vocal and nice use of the BGV's.

The arrangement and track selection support the lyric and message very well.

Well done,

J&B

PS It would be nice to know the BiaB tracks used, etc. You on guitar?

Thanks Misha,
Tried to add a a little interest with the sharp staccato chords and backing vocals.

Thanks for the comments,
So sad that we have to debate whether taking simple steps to save lives is good or bad.

For those who believe wearing a face covering is an infringement on their freedom, I wonder if their OK with a food handler not washing their hands after taking a crap.
We should put signs in restaurant washrooms " Employees Not Required To Wash Hands"
After all, washing your hands is such a terrible burden and infringement on liberty, we wouldn't want to expect anyone to do that, would we?

Sorry to hear of your friend's loss, if we keep resisting medical advise we'll all be in her shoes soon.

About the instruments:
Guess I've been delinquent on posting that info, I'll do better on the next one.
I'm still rather new to BIAB, I usually use the drums and bass for my songs then fill the rest in with my own guitar etc.
I really have no idea what I'm doing, just hunt and peck till I get something that works.
On this one I used quiet a few BIAB instruments.

Drums- Real Drums, Nashville Even 16

Bass- #1603

Guitar - #1606

What some people think is a guitar is really a cello # 3261

Vocals # 6073

Nice gentle sound, good arrangement. To my ears, a bit too much reverb on everything, but not a big deal.

Like J&B said, the background vocals worked nicely.

I enjoyed listening. smile

Hi Captain,

A very nice melody and strong lyrics!
This certainly will stay an issue for some time. You put your finger on the sore spot when it comes to acceptance of these measures.
But above this all, I do like your vocals in the song!

Thanks for the comment,
Yep, it is kinda juicy.
Like I said, I was shooting for a U2 kinda sound.
I guess I forgot, I'm not them ha ha ha.
