Hi All.

Just a bit of lockdown-madness-inspired Rock from me and Eddie - it's probably about 50-50.
The file crossed the Atlantic more times than British Airways has done recently and I've
lost track of what's in there. There are a couple of RT keyboards which Eddie added, an
acoustic RT buried in there somewhere, and the other guitars are mine. Interestingly, the drum
samples this time are from a 1980s Simmons kit which a friend had - Simmons were used on almost
every rock track in the 80s.

Eddie's singing the lead and I'm on the BVs. There's not much to the lyrics which are a bit banal
anyway, but if you can't make them out I'll list them later. In case there was any doubt, this
is a song about a car journey.

BETTER CALL YOUR MAMA

Don't take it too seriously - we didn't.

ROG & Eddie,
I turned up the spoken word intro and the drums crashing have damaged my drums!
Very good rollicking fun- loose backing with great guitar breaks cutting in.
Fit to purpose gents; well done.

A HUGE sound. Really filling my speakers. And nicely spread.

Excellent mix. The piano sits nicely. The guitar loud and proud.

Good groove. Good job.

Now that was a fun ride. What a rollicking delight!

Mix sounds great and hot.

That was my homage to Jim Steinman! LOL!!! The initial intro went on for 2 minutes longer!

ROG & Eddie ,,,

Just so dang cool! I love this stuff! To my ears, it has somewhat of an early Garage Band feel. I like how the music is spread horizontally across the spectrum. It fills the space completely without the slightest hint of clutter.

A great, fun-filled journey that put a big smile on this face. totally loved it!

Best to both of you. Be safe, wherever you are ...

Lots of fun, and don't we all need a bit of fun these days?

Guitars sound great, as does the mix.

Well done!

Could be a Rocky Burnette boogie.
Cool.

cool old school rocker.

Yep... on this old computer with tiny speakers it woulds fat and wide.

edit : almost forgot.... I like it.

Nicely done! A real fun tune, and the mix is superb. Loved the guitar work here as well. Nice and easy on the ears and perfectly catchy smile

Hi Robert,
I do hope your eardrums are recovering now!
Many thanks for the listen and review.
"Rollicking" is great - I couldn't ask for more.

Enjoyed it...well after we put the monitors back on the shelf!

Those trans Atlantic travels resulted in a lot of good ole rock 'n roll with a mega fun factor.

Well done y'all!

And the irony is that we will likely never meet! Maybe the distance is WHY we work well together. When I work with people locally they get on my &@^%#$% nerves by the end of the second session.
Posted By: ROG Re: BETTER CALL YOUR MAMA - 09/28/20 06:44 PM
Yes, it's a team which has stood the test of time. I think it's because Eddie is such a
quiet, unassuming sort of guy, who's so easy to work with.

What a cool intro. What an awesome tune. Very cool Stones vibe. Awesome backtrack. Very cool vocal. Boy did you have your guitar dialed in. Keef would be smilin. :-)

I feel that "mama" is metaphor, describing the comfort and familiarity of earlier times during this day of uncertain...wait. You said "don't take it seriously".

Sorry.

Yes, that was fun, and sounds good too.

Really nice rocker. Sounds good from start to finish. Good production and collaboration from you fellows.
Posted By: eddie1261 Re: BETTER CALL YOUR MAMA - 09/30/20 11:32 PM
I am just going to shamelessly bump this back to the top. I don't want to play the "new mix", "new vocals" BS game to bump back to the first page. I'll just say it up front. Nothing has changed. I just want some more names to see the song that haven't already commented.

No shame. It ain't bragging if you can do it.... and you and Rog pulled it off in spotless fashion.

Good song. Good arrangement and production. Enjoyed my listen start to finish.

Hi there J&B,
Many thanks for looking in - always much appreciated.
It still amazes me how easy it is for Eddie and me to work across such vast distances.
We've been doing this for many years, but one of these days I'm gonna overcome my
fear of flying and hop on a plane to Ohio for a visit.
Hey, glad you enjoyed the track.
