Hello forum friends. Just listened to a lot of great tracks!! Will continue to catch up in the next week or so. Al David puts together a lot of beautiful instrumentals....just has a knack! Also has a knack for interesting titles. I have used several of his instrumentals as a jumping off point for a vocal tune. This is another one. Will post the lyrics soon. As always, love to hear what you think! Take care all. Greg

An instant classic. So lovely in so many ways. It's a song that Sinatra or Santana could cut comfortably. Great use of the band. Sweet vocals and outstanding lyrics. Bravo!
Greg,

The beautiful melody reminiscent of 10cc's "I'm not in Love" is excellent.
The interaction of acoustic guitar, electric guitar and vocals is wonderful.
And as usual, the sweet vocals are so nice.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

That's an excellent collaboration.
Lyrics'd be nice to read.
Man!! So good.

Vocal is sublime! And Al is just so good at building great tracks.

Collaborations are always fun, and you ones you two do are always special.

Wonderful!
Love that slinky slow shuffle/swing feel.

The entire production exudes SOPHISTICATION.

Greg, you without fail shine with this breed of song and Al, you are the man at putting instrumental BiaB tracks together. Tracks that invariably sound like a well honed band.

A band that is perfecto for the engaging lyric and melody.

No need to further parse.

Hi bar pro level stuff happening here!

Wow. What a cool vocal. Beautiful collaboration. I am sure Alan is beaming listening to this song. Lovely piece of guitar work as well .Very well done
Beautiful!

I love the way you use words.
You write lyrics that SING.
And melodies like buttery brandy.
True talent.

Alan's backing is always a perfect vehicle for you.

A stunning vocal.

Gorgeous. A great listen.

Very nice, love the mood it sets.
Great job on the lyrics.
Good melody.
Well put together.
Nice job !
Beautiful vocals. Really enjoyed listening!

I cannot say much about the instrumental parts, because you didn't write anything about who did what. I thought we were supposed to do that, but good to know that I don't have to do that in the future. smile

Thanks for sharing!

Will ...

If you go to my comment, the 3rd or 4th on from the original post, I listed which tracks I used for the background music. And yes ...Greg wrote a gorgeous lyric and, as always, sings like a bird.

Best to you. Take care and be safe ...

Thanks so much!! Your kind words mean a great deal to me! Always enjoy your tunes! Take care. Greg
Well...my goodness. What do you say? Goodness, I guess. Just beautiful from your high notes to those stabs of deep blues in the music, this listen really wound me up, and calmed me down.

"Like an untuned guitar still yearning to be played"--or something like that. Yes.

Lyrical and musical brilliance. A deep bow to you both.
Hi Greg,

A beautiful song and so nicely sung. 'Like a bird' as Alan wrote. That is so true!
Alan did a good job as well on the 'background' with the band.

It really was a joy listening to, only one minute too short!

Alan & Greg,
Excellent teamwork!
I have a soft spot for this kind of music, where I can just fall back, relax and listen. Not boring pop yet not overcomplicated jazz, this tune is just perfect for the genre. From musical composition to lyrics to vocals, beautiful all the way! Thank you for sharing.

Greg & Alan,
Such a lovely melody and with sweetly sad lyrics, a fine vocal and very cool arrangement, this is a song that soaks in ...a very, very good collaboration!

Robert
Terrific collaboration between two very talented individuals. Beautiful.
Regards,
Leon
Much of my reaction is already noted by others, but there is also this--when an "instrumental" is created by someone who is attentive to and experienced in the lyrical aspect of writing, you can immediately detect this in the melody and song structure--it is very obviously sing-able, once someone decides to construct a sound lyric to it. Attention to accent points, the important repetitions in the phrasing--these are all underlayings that can support a great lyric and vocal, as is seen here. Contrast this with many "instrumentals" that are superb but cannot be made into songs that are "singable". Being familiar with Alan's work--both lyrics and literary works--I know that this awareness of "how the words might fit" is a key element of many of his non-lyric posts. Great work all the way around!!
Silky smooth.
Reminds me in ways of George Michael.

Vic
Hello Greag,

being a huge fan of everything Alan does I immediatelyfell for that song. Greg, I do do do love your voice and phrasing!"

Two great musicians'talents oerfectly combined - just a treat!

All the best,

Stefan
As others have said, silky smooth.

Lovely vocals, excellent backing tracks, and evocative lyrics all together in a dreamy mix.

Greg and Al,

What a beautiful, beautiful song.

Everything about this song -- writing, presentation, production -- is s-o-o-o-o-o polished. The melody floats along effortlessly and Greg's lyrics are the icing on the cake.

Honestly... music doesn't get better than this.

Really well done!

Totally agree with you about Al David's inspirational influence. Man, you take that influence to such a magically high level of achievement, Greg. Man, if I could sing like you, that's probably all I'd do all day long. Well, may not; I'm not terribly fond of musicals. Great song here, Greg. And a wonderful presentation.
