If you've listened to any of my recent songs, you see I'm building a new album called "Alone And Blue", with slow moody blues songs
I'm working on a few more new ones but, I thought I'd dig around in the archives for any older ones that I haven't published.

This one was created several years ago when I just began writing/recording.
It was recorded and mixed on in an old DAW that I've dumped and then my computer crashed without backup.

Consequently, all I have is this stereo mix with no way to go back and re-mix.
I tried to polish it up the best I could.

This Is all pre BIAB and I can't even recall what I used other that my own guitar and vocals.

I'd like to drop it into the new album but it may not be up to par.

Please give it a listen and give me your opinions.

Thanks

Got some feedback from others on this and it's clear that the timing is off.
As I recall, I might have added the percussion myself with a synthesizer.
I'll never be a drummer, that's one of the reasons I like BIAB, it keeps my timing honest.

CaptainMoto,

Lots of potential in this one. It sounds really strong as is, but, sure, it could be a bit tighter. The vocal seems a bit too forward in the mix in spots. The lead guitar sounds right on. The drums strike me as a bit tinny, with no bottom. And, while subjective, I might want a bit more of an active bass. But the mood is spot on . . . all the elements are here. Fine-tuning and this one will explode. Good stuff!

Best regards,

Deej

Morning Captain,

I agree with your comment about the timing, the drums don't match the song.

But why not just redo it? It's a good song, deserves to be done right IMHO.

Thanks for that,
Guess it's time to go back to the beginning on this one.

There is plenty there to have this turn out to be a keeper. Haunting vocal and guitar. You might not need a drum track at all... It will be interesting to see where you land with it...

Thanks FJ,
It's got some flaws but, I partial to the way it feels.
I'll start something new soon.

This is a very cool song. Guitar and vocal are just excellent. I agree you should look at a redo so you are able to do a full mix on it.

Yes, Captain, please redo it. Aside from the time shift it's just great.

Redo it. Moto!! Yeah, it fits your album perfectly. BiaB will bring this to the level you want.

Very ethereal in a cool way. Work with the aforementioned issues and this will be
more than album worthy!

The vocal and guitar performances are excellent. Love your chops and tone.

It's a really nice piece. I think you know what you have to do now.
Maybe Floyd's right about ditching the drums.

Echo what others have said that this is worth a redo, tighten it up and you got a winner.
