Smokey Lounges Its 1960. You are in a jazz lounge with your sweetheart. You can hardly see her through all of the cigarette smoke. You were just waiting for a song like this so you could cuddle up and dance with her.
BiaB style = -JAZ_60 STY Jazz at T60 - slow jazz.
The tracks are verbatim. All I did was to choose the sounds
Bass = Ample Bass - Upright
Piano = Keystone Classic - Bright EP
Guitar = Kontakt - Band - Jazz Guitar
Drums = Steven Slate SSD-5 - FX - Waves CLA Drums
Me = Swam Tenor Sax played via my wind controller - FX - Raum Reverb
As always constructive criticism welcomed.
Sets the mood perfectly. Very easy on the ear. Nice sax.
I got a chuckle out of your intro to the song rewrite up. My first thoughts were to Rod Serling and the Twilight Zone. Very cool tune. Sax was excellent.
I really dig your lovely description--sets up the song so nicely. Beautiful song. Great tune. Love your sax playing. Do you use different fingerings on your wind controller from instrument to instrument? Or do you use the same fingerings regardless of the virtual instrument?
We always love a good sax and, man, you shine on this!
Very nice!

PS Love the "setup scene."

Nicely played, very evocative.
A relaxing atmospheric composition.

Lovely mood, great sax playing ! Where's my martini olive ?
Really great composition !
The description you provided definitely sets the tone for the song and what to expect. Even though I knew what to expect the song still blew me away. Thanks for sharing!
Brian, Scott, Todd, Janice and Bud, Peter, Angelomusic, Ember, and Ed Thanx for taking the time to listen and comment. I greatly appreciate it.
Todd, I have my EWI-USB wind controller set up for a trumpet like fingering, called EVI. There are several fingerings you can set that unit to such as sax and flute. Since I used to play French horn and trumpet I use the EVI setting for everything I do with the with the EWI-USB.
A terrific listen, Mario.
Nice job on the sax. Soulful.
Good mix.

Hello MarioD,
You are good at creating intimate atmospheres. It's relaxing and well done. By closing my eyes, I imagine the setting and the people. The sax is well used and the whole is really nice.

Haha. Sooo cool, Mario. I wish I didn't read your introduction above before pressing Play because it would've been cool to give YOU my thoughts about the setting. BUT as soon I heard the sax, I knew we were on the same history page. Man, seriously, I felt like looking over at her and taking her hand as I stood. Even better, SHE knew that was the song, too.
Hi MarioD great job on the sax really engaging on this peace perfect back ground on this well done sir thanks Eric
Floyd, Dero 13, Marty, and Eric thanx so much for taking the time to listen and comment on this song. I greatly appreciate it.
Man, that sax sounds great! I would never have guessed it wasn't the real thing.
Great track, Mario!
You, sir, have talent to burn. And I mean it ... to burn. Wanna lend me some of it? ;-) Seriously, though ... wow. I am a child of the eighties, but my word ... if I wanted to cuddle up with the love of my life in a smoky jazz club, this would be the perfect song for it - and I mean it :-) I can just see the club as I listen. The sax playing is spot on, too.
I'll just say this: whenever I get time to come to this forum these days, yours is one of the very first names I look out for. You NEVER disappoint. Bravo.
I want to be reincarnated and go back to this era right now.
Please God. It is all I want for Thanksgiving!
Happy Holidays Mario. Great job here.
Great, felt like I was watching a classic noir film and grooving on the soundtrack.
Yeah, really nice mood piece. I always enjoy your work, esp because of the wind-instrument orientation you have--it allows you to go beyond what the RT's offer--wish I had that playing skill set. Thanks for posting!
Thanx Dave, James, David, TuneMonger, and Tano Music for taking the time to listen and comment on this song. I greatly appreciate those extremely nice comments.
Your descriptor is quite apt--and I am wearing my evening jacket sans the tie. My gal is sporting a Jackie K hairdo. I too love that sax. What an amazing sound you get with that wind controller.
Mario, very good!
Nice piece is all respects. I like almost whole of it except for drums...
They are a little too mechanical and a bit to loud for my taste. The composition is laid back, but they seem to be very persistent in places. Maybe it is genre specific thing. As lounge music often is played in relatively small spaces and if the drums are a little loud they will feel LOUD
In any case, it is a cool composition and your controller skills are super. Thank you for sharing.
Misha.
You transported me, Mario. I just wish I was a better dancer.
Regards
Leon
