Falling Leaves

Falling leaves says winter is on its way.
Those falling leaves tell me that you wont stay.
So when the cold wind blows and all is covered in snow.
No one knows where those falling leaves go.

Bridge

Now I sit and watch as they fall without a sound.
As they fall and dance across the ground.
So when the cold wind blows and all is covered in snow.
No one knows where those falling leaves go.
No one can tell me where m y falling leaves go.

This sad and slow country swing RealStyle features a pedal steel soloist that plays classic country licks and melodies.
Acoustic piano joins in with simple country folk comping, with accents on beats two and four.
"Momma's prayer" acoustic guitar strums with similar accents.
NashvilleBrushesHillbillySwing RealDrums play in their only variation (A: sidestick/brushes, B: sticks/brushes)
while electric bass alternates between the root and fifth on the half note.

This song is in the key of Em/G and uses basic major and minor triads that change every 2 to 8 beats.

Nice song that made a great showcase for your fabulous voice! A real pleasure to hear you again, wondering where you were at.
I like it - it makes me realize that I tend to overthink lyrics!

One nit, though. The lyric "As the fall, they dance across the ground" made me wonder how the leaves can "fall" and "dance across the ground" at the same time.

Then again, I tend to overthink things! wink
Cool tune Rob. Super vocal. Well done
A memorable hook.
Well done.
Nice job on the vocals .
Hello TuneMonger.
When corona hit, I was forced to reevaluate my life.
Song writing didn't seem so important at the time, with so many dyeing.
I am back at it now as you can see. Thank you for your kind comment.
Rob
Very nice, Rob. The 'less is more' arrangement allows your excellent vocal to shine.
Regards,
Leon

The brushes and hihat seem to increase in high end fizz as the 1st verse develops...sounds a little odd.
Nice song and arrangement and a good vocal performance.
Rob,

Always know when I click on one of your tunes, I’ll get a good listen and this is no exception. I think I would have liked a lyrical bridge in this one between the two verses, but it works pretty fine as is, so just a personal preference. Vocal is stellar as usual. Good job on a 24 hour turnaround.

All my best,

Deej
Rob,

Good to hear another from you. It has been a while...

Well done. Your signature sound.

(I agree with Ray about the high sizzle).

Hello David.
Thank you for listening.
I guess I took poetic licence on the lyrics.
Rob
Thank you Scott,
Rob
Cool song, Rob. Sounds like it was recorded at Sam Phillips' place. And sure, leaves can fall and then get blown across the ground with a dancing breeze. Excellent vocal, too!
Thank you Captain
Rob
Well that was a great re-entry to the forum!

One of the best voices around has been gone too long.

"sad and slow" as you wrote but really well done...all the way around.

Nice!

Hi Ray. Thank you for your comment.

Cool song. I'm a fool for the old style country and this checks many of the right boxes.

Fall and winter are such sad seasons in a certain way.
Hi guys, Your comment gave me a great big grin.
many thanks. Rob
Robert, I like the write and the vocal is excellent. Good editing on the steel. A great listen, Tom

Hi Rob ...

I was so happy to see a new one from you. You've been missed on the Forum.

Terrific song and delivery. You are so good at these traditional country songs. Your voice has a slight hint of Marty Robbins in it ... and that's a good thing in my book. Thanks for a super song to listen to. Great to hear from you again! Wishing you & yours the very best. Please be safe ...

Lovely ballad. Very 70s country style. What a great big voice you have. The band was great too.

Rob,
Beauty! Good to hear from you. Smooth vocal, good lyrics. Flows very nicely. Enjoyed it!
The only critical item is the drums I think are over peaking a bit. Maybe my setup?
