THis is a new pop country tune I threw together. Most of what's here is one track takes. No overdubs.... roll it one time and that's it.

All the tracks are BB...

I'll have to get the track numbers if anyone is interested.

I was trying to answer the age old question... What do you wanna do today?

Something to Do mix version 2

Hope you enjoy it... prolly the last original for the year.... maybe.

Lyrics

I said hey hey baby what you wanna do
It's a beautiful day just made for me and you
Oh baby, what you wanna do
She said come honey lets go for a ride
with the windows rolled down in the countryside
oh baby we can find something to do.

We can fire up that Chevy pull it out of the drive,
Head for the hills man I feel so alive
Oh baby, we can find something to do
Later on we'll watch the sun go down
Then we'll drive that truck back into town
Oh baby, we can find something to do

chorus

The sun shining down on a lovely day today
Ain't gonna let nothing get in our way
we can roll on out in the countryside
with the radio blasting and the windows wide
oh baby, we can find something to do

Nice work. Lots of energy. Real country music. Nice use of the band.

Herb, you got a great groove goin on in this. Fun write and really good vocals. I always fall right into this country rock feel. It’s right up my alley and I have played a lot of tunes in this same vein. I seriously enjoyed this one. Tom

Rob, Greg, Will, JPT, and Tommy.... thanks for listening. Yes, this was a fun, simple, pop tune to write and I'm glad y'all enjoyed it. There's a few nits I realized are in it so I might rework the mix slightly and see about fixing those things that are bugging me now.
Posted By: Guitarhacker Re: Something to Do - 12/07/20 04:59 PM
So.... I fixed a few things that bugged me.

Drums: Nashville even 8
Bass 1717
Piano 2023
Rhythm guitar 1718
Solo guitar 3445

Fixes include.... slightly bumped bass by a few dB. BGV up a few dB. Rhythm guitar down a few dB. edit to the solo guitar volume envelope. Fixed a piano volume envelope issue near the end. And.... tightened up the ending a bit.

Really good song and performances.
The intro was REALLY bright...the rest of the song is bright - it may be the piano as the crispness seemed to UP a little in the solo.
Cool.

Cool song Herb all the way around. It shows you know what you're doing in this style. Love the BGV's!

Oh, man, nice throw, Herb. Everything is so polished. You make one-takes seem like weeks of rehearsal. That piano is perfect, and you let it shine at just the right times. Great guitar!!

Ray, HTL, Babu...

Thanks guys for listening. I'll take all the kind words with much thanks.

Guitarhacker,

Catchy little country tune—like the rockabilly piano a ton . . . keeps the foot tapping; lots of energy in this one.. The guitar solo fits really well. Real strong write and vocal work, too. Nothing not to like here—good stuff!

All my best,

Deej

DeeJ56, Al David, Captain MOTO..... thanks for listening. I've been busy with a bunch of things and intended to reply in a more timely manner than this.

I'm glad everyone is liking this song. It was one of those, "Hey... I have an idea" things that didn't involve "here, hold my beer".

Hello GuitarHacker,
What I appreciate in your composition is the optimism of happy days. The arrangement is pleasant and the lyrics catchy for a romantic dance.

Kindly regards

Not only a fun song, but a get up and dance in the bar song. The instrumentation is perfect for this. Your vocal fits quite nicely for this song!

Something to Do is great! Really well performed. I know this is a BIAB forum, but the thing is you can't tell BIAB was used and that's the thing that makes it an effective tool and well used on this song. Just great!

Dani, crossroads, and tunemonger....

I reckon I should just throw songs together and not overthink them. Perhaps it's the spontaneous aspect and not trying to fix the vox tracks that is the secret sauce.

I'm liking that you liked this. Thanks

David, Peter, Davidc, FMM, Derochette, Ezekiel, and of course... Static.

Thanks all for listening and taking the time to comment. I do appreciate all the comments.... and now, it's time to start working on something new....

Kinda late to the party...

Yeah man! Reminds me of us two cruisin' around in our old 'vette years ago.

Cool lyric, fine vocals and GREAT use of BiaB. Sounds like a band indeed.

Enjoyed it!

Well, it's better to be late than to never get here....

Yep, that's exactly the feel I was going for in this song. Those carefree days.... Jump in the car and point it out of town.... No direction known.... We'll find something to do.

Thanks for listening and commenting.
