The Ballad Of The Soda Pop

Well, he rode into town on a one-eyed horse.
I know it's true co'z I heard from the source.

Evil eyes were a staring him down.
The wind was howling in that one-horse town.

He went to the bar and said I want a soda pop.

While the buzzards circle up high in the sky.
Waiting on some poor soul to die.

There's a mangy dog all covered in fleas.
There's a preacher man praying on his knees.

He went to the bar and said I want a soda pop.

He winked his eye as he whistled a western song.
But drinking soda pop through a straw seems so wrong.

Bridge

He winked his eye as he whistled a western song.
But drinking soda pop through a straw seems so wrong.

The undertaker just stood at the door.
There's bound to be blood spilled on the floor.

He pushed his way through that bustling crowd.
He whispered softly I've made a vow.

When he went to the bar and said I want a soda pop.
When he went to the bar and said I want a soda pop.
When he went to the bar and said I want a soda pop.

A Tex-Mex RealStyle that features a country electric guitar soloist.
It plays classic country riffs and bends with a clean tone.
A gritty electric guitar is panned to the side, playing a Texas rock part.
A twelve-string acoustic guitar strums campfire chords with an even-eighths rhythm.
Electric bass plays with a push into beat three that is common in the Tex-Mex style.
TexMexCountryEv8^ RealDrums play in their first variation,
which includes a tom groove with shaker
/scraper at A and shaker/scraper/ride at B.

This song is in the key of Bm/D and uses a mix of pop and slash chords
that change every 2 to 8 beats.

Hello Ray.
I think it helps to have few kangaroos loose in the top paddock
these days. Thanks for your great comment.:)

Fun song and a big sound.

Nicely constructed and performed (excellent vocal as usual).

Enjoyed it.

I love the vibe on this song. Somewhat menacing yet light and fun courtesy the chorus. Great mix. Good one.

Rob,
Totally off the wall. Amazing stuff! You should do more of these. I think the closest was the Skinning bear tune. Enjoyed this a lot.
Thank you for sharing!

Mysterious, vivid and funny story, I especially like the line "But drinking soda pop through a straw seems so wrong."
Nice intro, catchy chorus that keeps playing in my head long afterwords.
Scrapper and shaker give nice mood.
Good vocals, backing vocals work very well also and the whistling is a cool addition.

Very clever song, put a smile on my voice and got a chuckle out of me. Nice to cross us up every once in a while with something like this. Well done!
Love it, Rob. I'm a big fan of both Tex-Mex and off-beat lyrics. Inspiring stuff. And 'kangaroos loose in the top paddock', eh...maybe there's another idea for a song.
Regards,
Leon
