I'm sorry - I'm once again behind on listening to songs on here. I'm not happy about that, because there are so many amazing musicians on here that I really do want to listen to. But this just kept knocking at my brain today, so ... I sat down and wrote it, instead. I will, however, catch up ... promise.

Anyway, here it is ... "Milly Anne" https://soundcloud.com/jamesdelsono/milly-anne

Disclaimer: although it may seem to many that I'm going through an Albert Hammond phrase of late, all resemblances to ladies that I've loved before in my songs, whether real or fictional in nature, are entirely coincidental. ;-)

MILLY ANNE

I've never seen someone so beautiful
Sit down and talk to me;
I've never seen someone so wonderful
Take time to know and see

What lay beneath my eyes, what lay beneath my smile ...
I never thought I'd see
Someone ever so kind, to come and take some time
To stay here and rest with me.

And when you looked at me, and when my eyes met yours,
I thought I'd never breathe again;
I hope that you are happy, I hope that you found joy,
My only, Milly Anne.

***

For Fate is ever so cruel, the time is out of joint
Forever ... always, ever so ...
The time was never right, for us to blow their mind
And be together ... ever more.

***

I miss you, Milly Anne ...
Our time, though brief, was bright ...
I'm left with but a dream, until we meet again,
I sigh ... and say good night.

James,
I've skipped you last few songs so that I might hear a difference that isn't incremental.
This recording of your voice is the best I've heard from you.
Nice backing but I was much more interested in the vocal.
GOOD WORK.

I'm with rayc on this - you're clearly improving in recording and mixing.

And as Albert Hammond was pretty darned successful, why apologize? cool

Well done. laugh

A nice listen, James. The BAND does a good job. The shaker is perfect for this.

As others noted, your vocal recording techniques have gotten good. Very well balanced.

A heartfelt lyric.

Rob: thank you :-)

Ray: that's huge praise, coming from a musician with musical hearing and ability such as yours. I'm so glad I'm improving in my "sound engineering", haha, techniques! It was hit and miss to start with, but now I think I'm getting the hang of what all those "compressor" buttons do, haha. It's still a very much "by ear" job, but ... :-)

David: thank you, also. Re: Hammond ... haha :-) I'm not sure my "old flames" would enjoy being "immortalised" in song, so I've changed the names and circumstances to render things almost unrecognisable, haha. But, as you say, if it catapults me to some sort of success, why not? haha ;-)

floyd: thank you. I'm working on how to make each song memorable, as we talked. I'll get there :-) Thanks for your kind words!

Thank you so much, everyone, for listening and for your kind comments!
